Bill Gates has shared concerns over the matter of Twitter as Elon Musk seems like taking ownership of the company. The Microsoft co-founder warned that Musk could worsen Twitter after he pledged to purchase the company for $44. Bill Gates was at the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Summit, where he said it is vague how the Tesla CEO would change Twitter if he takes over it. He raised concerns about how social media platforms have an increased spread of misinformation.
The tech billionaire acknowledged Musk’s impressive track record at other companies, hailing his ownership and efforts at the helm of SpaceX and Tesla as incredible. Gates believes that Musk had brilliantly put together a great team of engineers at the above-said companies, though he doubts what could happen this time if Musk takes ownership of Twitter. He also said we need to be open-minded and not undervalue the Tesla CEO.
Bill Gates spoke of his concerns after Elon Musk blamed him for short Tesla sock in April. Musk also took to Twitter to post a crude joke about Microsoft co-founder, saying that CNBC has no plans to print. Gates responded he has no botheration for any insults.
Elon Musk has replaced Bill Gates as the world’s wealthiest man in the past couple of years. Gates questioned what Musk wants to do with Twitter and whether his effort to promote free speech on the social media platform is a sensible act. “How does he feels about a post on Twitter saying vaccines kill people or that Bill Gates is tracing individuals,” Bill Gates asked. He asked what goals Musk has for it. Does it go with the thought of less intense misinformation so rapidly and peculiar conspiracy theories? Has he shared his goals or not?
However, none of Musk’s representatives took the time to respond to Gates’ comment. Elon Musk has indicated several ways he may use to enhance Twitter ahead of promoting free speech over the last couple of weeks. On Tuesday, for instance, he expressed his thoughts on charging companies a nominal fee to use the social media platform.
Misinformation about vaccines has spread widely on social media during the pandemic of COVID-19. It wrongly claimed that Bill Gates somehow used vaccines to insert 5G chips into people to track their location. According to Gates, such claims are unexpected and almost bizarre. He called people to come up and protest against such misinformation as he is back in the physical world. Gates said it is dangerous to cast out the primary tools that can save lives. The owners of social media platforms have a significant role when spreading the truth effectively.
Gates admitted that it is hard for the social media platforms to work against the misinformation if they do not have trusted leaders speaking about vaccines. Accordingly, he thinks we lack leadership and have a platform problem. Data on the efficacy of drugs should be rapid and less expensive because it works as a blessing to humanity.
