Overview
The CyberPowerPC Warrior is one of the most popular budget gaming models from the custom builder. Armed with some honourable equipment and at a reasonable price, this build is a strong contender for the best gaming PC in the UK (Cyberpower is available in both the US and the UK, but this machine is only available in the UK) for anyone looking for a fairly powerful rig for the titles that are currently available. However, keep in mind that this machine is far from a monstrosity, and is constructed to the bare minimum of play standards, 1080p60, with a few downsides in this regard.
Design and Functions
In terms of the boutique scene, the CyberPowerPC Warrior is a basic and pretty average build. The CyberpowerPC NR640 Mid Tower Case is a standard plastic chassis with a simple front I/O and a simple visual design. It does get one thing correctly with this minimalist approach, and that’s airflow. When you open the case, you’ll notice that the circuit board and components, including the graphics card, only take up about half the storage space. To say the least, things are a little empty.
This indicates that there is a case to be made for updating this rig in the coming years. Speaking of what’s inside the box, there’s a 650W power supply, which should be more than enough to replace the entry-level Ampere with something a little more capable in the long term if desired.
This CyberPowerPC Warrior build aims to do is provide playable framerates in two popular resolutions without breaking the bank for PC gamers in 2022. As one would anticipate from a budget-built home likely to cost around $1,200/£1,100. Things are fairly standard here, with a previous generation i7 CPU, 16GB RAM, and an old system Gen 3.0 NVMe SSD. However, provided what we’ve seen in the past with machines in this price range (exactly £1,117.20 at Amazon(opens in new tab)), this is a more reasonable option, albeit one with few surprises.
The one big drawback here is that the would include 1TB NVMe drive, even by Gen 3.0 standards, isn’t precisely one of the best SSDs for gaming. The average rates we see from older boot drives like this inclined to hover around the 3,500 MB/s mark, so you’re not only not obtaining its most up-to-date generation of storage, but you’re also not going to hit that cap. It’s worth noting that even a mid-tier Gen 3.0 drive is still considerably quicker than a standard SATA drive, which typically runs at about 550 MB/s.
