Cybersecurity and fighting financial crimes and handling public health issues have been quite a problem. These problems get to put the two governments to put their heads together and find a solution to fight off these issues. A series of measures have been launched by the governments of the UK and US in a joint venture to put an end t these issues.
This was announced last year but it got launched just now on Wednesday. The synergic innovation for prize challenges is being focused on enhancing privacy including security technology. During the Summit for democracy, it was revealed that these challenges are included in the plan to control the technical faults and gaps and the introduction of privacy-enhancing technologies (PETS).
The British government along with the American government has collectively pooled a cash prize of 1.3 million so that they can be awarded to the best performers of Al models getting trained on sensitive data. Nadine Dorries, who is secretary of digital security, stated that technology that can enhance privacy can be put to use data and Al to help citizens and their businesses. The UK is trying to get the power of data throughout the economy. This prize challenge will help to get the profile of technologies by being a foundation for collaboration in the future.
A series of challenges will be launched that will include controlling financial crimes with money laundering being on top. After that challenge, the next challenge will be related to medical data. The difficulties that national health services had to face in responding to the pandemic inspired establishing this challenge.
Gina Raimondo who is secretary of commerce in the US said that with the help of artificial intelligence, we are on the brink of getting solutions for some of the top intractable problems in the world and this artificial intelligence also possesses the power to enhance the quality of life. Â But this is tricky as we have to do it with the responsibility of carrying the shared values of privacy.
She further stated that I am more than excited that we are being able to launch this technology as a result of this joint venture between the UK and the US that will bring improvements in the privacy of the technology prize challenge. It will also help to bring out and motivate the researchers that are best in industry, including academia. It will help our researchers to bring in innovations for the protection of privacy sp that everyone can get benefit from this.
