Elon Musk ran a poll asking people whether he should step down as the owner of Twitter after he appeared in a photograph taken at the FIFA World Cup final in Qatar. In the photo, Musk stood next to Jared Kushner – the son-in-law of the former US President, Donald Trump. He is the man the Tesla owner has tried but remained unsuccessful in bringing him back to Twitter.
Musk has an idea of the power that a bombastic Trump post can give a controversial yet bonus moment for the platform. He knows it will drive a significant number of audiences to Twitter. Of course, Trumps also knows this and has another agenda with Truth Social – his separate social network, to which he has always been loyal. However, Musk’s efforts to benefit from the trump card remain unsuccessful.
The photo taken at the World Cup’s final also proves Musk was physical in the neighborhood of Saudi Arabia – the country of the platform’s most significant investors. Whether or not he dropped in or those investors posed some serious concerns about his control in the last few months remains a question.
The Trick Backfired
While it is vague to identify what Elon Musk wanted to achieve by running a poll, the results, so far, are not unsurprising. Almost 57% of the 17.5 million votes came supporting Elon Musk’s stepping down as the boss of Twitter.
It would not be wrong to say his trick has backfired, specifically if he was trying to achieve an ego boost. The poll does not seem to be working in Musk’s favor as it is successfully getting his leadership off, which began at the end of October. Elon Musk spent lots of time trying to get out of purchasing Twitter. His feed on the platform is uncharacteristically soundless, though it cannot last long.
Musk has a reputation for listening to poll results. He had started the entire circus for purchasing Twitter earlier. The Twitter owner has also asked users to help him identify whether or not he put his expensive Tesla stock on the market.
Who would be the Next Boss?
As Musk listens to his polls, his new poll has led to a question who will be the next Twitter boss if Musk does what people tell him.
Twitter has been a 1-man business since Musk arrived at the social media company. Unlike Meta, where Sheryl Sandburg replaced Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk does not have an apparent wingman for Twitter. Company’s senior employees like Yoel Roth he initially considered as allies, have left the company, criticizing Musk’s role.
The Poll Results
Elon Musk’s Twitter poll appeared as a surprise to the users on the platform. Regardless of the purpose, the poll on Musk’s future seemingly has backfired. Users have voted to favor the billionaire’s stepping down.
According to the poll results, 57.5% of Twitter users voted yes after the CEO if he should quit the leadership of Twitter. Elon Musk, who took over the messaging company for $44 billion, said he would accept the result before the poll closed.
The Tesla owner would remain as the owner of Twitter, even if he quits as chief executive. The poll found 17.5 million users used their right to vote for this poll earlier this week, where more than 50% voted yes to Musk stepping down.
