It appears that PC gamers have gotten their Christmas presents early, with Nvidia and Intel already showing their next-gen graphic cards, while AMD has yet to do so. True to its form, Nvidia has decided to take the direct hit with its new flagship graphic card, the GeForce RTX 4090.
When it comes to GPU tech, Nvidia has already been doing quite great, but the RTX 4090 has proven to be something else completely. It is expected that the new generation of a product would be more powerful than the older one, but what Nvidia has produced is just mind blowing.
The new architecture of the RTX 4090 is a monumental leap forward because it has made 4K gaming and ray tracing a reality.
Pricing and Availability
All major retailers have the NvidiaRTX 4090 available, with the Founders Edition priced at $1,500 in the United States and there are also third-party cards that come with extra features.These include factory overclocks and custom cooling.
Specs, Hardware and Design
The first thing you will learn about the RTX 4090 is that everything about it is big. The specifications are huge, so is the price and the size of the graphics card. In fact, the Founders Edition is actually the smallest, but certainly not in terms of performance.
The size of the RTX 4090 could be an issue for some, as it takes up three PCIeslots, depending on the layout of the motherboard. The PCB itself is not of such a huge size, as it is just one big piece of metal that has fins on both sides for helping with the airflow. There are also two big fans on the opposing sides and ends of the card.
The good news about this graphics card is that it remains rigid, despite its weight and size and does not sag, even slightly.But, when it comes to latest display outputs, the RTX 4090 does lack some support. It does come with an HDMI 2.1, but there is no Display Port 2.0. It might not matter right now, but could make a difference in the future, as you would expect to use it for years.
Gaming performance
Since it belongs to the GeForce family, it is understood that the RTX 4090 has been designed for gamers. The performance that this card delivers is so spectacular that it seems ludicrous. It seems really surprising that any gamer would require such performance. There is absolutely nothing on the market that can compare to the performance that the RTX 4090 is capable of delivering.
It offers a 70% gain in performance as compared to RTX 3090 and AMD has some serious competition if it wants to keep up. The RTX 4090 is so powerful that it practically requires you to engage in 4K gaming. If you have the display, then you can even engage in 8K gaming.
The Verdict
There is no doubt that the RTX 4090 is expensive and huge, but it is also a fact that it just blows all of its competition out of the water because of the power and performance it can deliver.
