It is no longer a secret that Samsung Laptops with Windows 11-based operating systems can run Android apps. Based on Android 11, the Windows Subsystem or WSA enabled this feature a few months ago. After updating the WSA to Android, followed by Android 12L, Microsoft upgraded it to Android 13.
Android Apps Run on Samsung Laptops with Windows 11
Microsoft announced the rollout of an update to the Windows Subsystem for Android. Samsung is among the most significant beneficiaries of the latest update, especially for its laptops with Windows 11. The update to Android 13 is only available for those individuals on Windows 11 who are subscribers of the Android Preview Program in the Windows Subsystem. The WSA has a chance to get a stable version of Android 13 in the upcoming months.
The latest update will benefit Windows 11 by enhancing its ability to run Android apps better. Android 13 has numerous new features to apps to ensure enhanced user experience. Apps can use API 33 of Android to implement those features. Since the WSA advanced to Android 13, it allows apps to run features on Windows 11 enabled by API 33.
Microsoft said the Windows-11 Operating system would be able to run Android-based apps faster than before, though only devices using SSD storage can benefit from this performance upgrade. Many other reliability and performance enhancements are also in the process.
Samsung Produces 8.5 Million OLED Panels
Samsung Galaxy could also introduce a massive laptop having a foldable screen in 2023. The tech giant is known for making some of the world’s finest OLED panels for many device types, including smartwatches. It also has the credit to produce 65-inch televisions. The South Korean company has decided to introduce a new device with a 17.3-inch OLED panel next year.
According to a report, Samsung targets to produce around 8.5 million OLED panels, which will make 43% higher production of laptops than in 2022 next year. It will supply most of those panels to ASUS – the traditional customer of LG’s foldable OLED panels.
Samsung Laptops with 17.3-inch Foldable Panels
Omdia market research reveals the company will sell these 17.3-inch foldable panels to Samsung MX, the manufacturer of Galaxy-branded laptops. If this report turns out to be correct, the market could soon find Samsung foldable screen laptops.
Samsung Display’s 17.3-inch OLED panel can fold in half. When the user folds the laptop, they can use half the screen as a display while using the other half as a touch-screen keyboard. Everyone was expecting Samsung to launch such a foldable laptop in 2022, but the company had to postpone it until somewhere next year due to unknown reasons.
In 2020, Samsung Display manufactured over 959,000 laptops with OLED panels. Subsequently, it released five million units in 2021 and 5.9 million foldable panels in the following year. Earlier, Samsung Display had a privilege to be the biggest purchaser of laptops with OLED screens. However, Samsung MX took over this privilege in 2022 as it decided to launch more OLED laptop screens.
