Vivo X80 Pro Review

The flagship phones from Vivo have developed a reputation for delivering excellent camera performance, as evident with the X70 Pro+ last year that was named one of the best camera phones in the market. As there is no X80 Pro+, the responsibility is now on the X80 Pro, which is definitely a great successor.

Design and Build

The front of the Vivo X80 Pro makes it look like just about any other Android flagship phone, boasting a 6.78-inch display that has curved and sloping sides and a punch-hole selfie camera.The phone is not the thinnest one around, given that it is 9.1mm thick, but the curved edges give it a slender feel. It weighs about 219 grams and is a bit more unusual from the back.

The camera module design may come off as a bit strange, as a circle comprises of three lenses, while the fourth is below. All of these are in a large, mirrored rectangle, which does come off as a bit odd. However, the phenomenal finish of the rest of the device makes up for this oddity. It has black frosted glass that glitters in the sunlight a bit. The phone feels soft and smooth, as the texture is satiny.

The display of the Vivo X80 Pro uses Schott’s Xensation Up protective glass and with an IP68 rating, it should stand up well against dust and water.

Display

The display is rather huge, as it is 6.78 inches and boasts a resolution of 1440 x 3200, which makes it QHD+. The phone uses the LTPO 3.0 display tech, which increases its refresh rate to 120Hz and this optimizes power.

The screen is absolutely beautiful because it is colorful, punchy and bright. It also boasts an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which is extra-large and this makes it easy to unlock the phone. Even two fingerprints can be registered for an additional layer of security.

Performance

You will also not have any cause for complaint in terms of the core performance that the Vivo X80 Pro is capable of delivering. The Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the most powerful chip available and it comes with 12GB of RAM as well as non-expandable storage of 256GB.

The phone is fluid and fast and very responsive, making it great for intense gaming and multi-tasking. As far as networking is concerned, the phone provides you Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Wi-Fi 6 and 5G.

Battery and charging

The battery is yet another area where the Vivo X80 Pro is downright fantastic. The 4700mAh is quite large and the phone can last for about a day easily and even a second day, depending on the use. The fast charging is yet another perk, thanks to the 80W wired charger that is available with the phone.

Camera

A main lens of 50Mp, 12 Mp2x portrait telephoto lens, ultrawide 48mp and 8mp 5x periscope lens make up the camera details. They come with a new image processing chip and the gimball stabilization has also shifted to the portrait lens from the ultrawide. It is similar to the Vivo X70 Pro+.
