Apple has reportedly called off the production and shipment plans for its next iPhone SE for 2023. Ming-Chi Kuo, the tech analyst, wrote in a blog post that the company had called off its plans for its next iPhone lineup in December last year.
Apple’s iPhone was about to be a test drive for the latest modern chips. Users may not get the new handset from its flagship in 2024. Ming-Chi Kuo uses the sources in the supply chain to predict the tech industry. According to his recent prediction, Apple will most likely cancel or delay its 4th generation iPhone SE.
Kuo believes the company may get the new handset axed because it couldn’t make the sale for its lower-end phones as notable as it hoped. According to a media report, Apple iPhone 14 Pro had more demand than the iPhone 14s in September 2022. The company identified increasing the price of the iPhone lineup would make it less appealing to budget-conscious users.

Apple iPhone SE’s Release in 2024 Â
It shouldn’t be a surprise if Apple does not release its iPhone SE in 2024. Last year in March, Nikkei Asia and Ming-Chi Kuo reported about the company reducing the number of iPhones SE it intended to make a few weeks after its release.
While the information about the phone’s sale is still vague, it is logical if Apple did not rush to produce a follow-up to a handset that did not earn much, it could be hard for the tech company and the economy on the whole.
Since budget-friendly phones have received three iterations, Apple would not necessarily release a new model after two years to break the precedent. The company had once released its 3rd generation iPhone SE with a four-year gap after the release of the first model. Apple may line flounder this time again.

Qualcomm & Potential Cancellation of the new iPhone SE
Qualcomm may be happy to know about the potential call-off of Apple’s new iPhone. The company manufactures the 5G modems for iPhones, whereas Apple has reportedly started working on its separate chip versions.
Kuo says Apple plans to test these chips in the next iPhone SE before using them in its flagship handphones. Its modems alongside Qualcomm’s do not necessarily perform, which may send Apple back to the drawing board and make it likely to use Qualcomm modems in its iPhone 16 next year.
On the other hand, the chipmaker predicts that the company will continue to collaborate with Apple as a significant source of earnings for the next two years, there is a whole year to reach 2024, and companies can always change their plans.
Although Kuo’s reports and predictions are usually reliable, rumors’ sources do not necessarily need to be perfect. The analyst repeatedly repulsed his predictions for when Apple would launch its VR headset. First, he said it would arrive in 2022, then predicted its launch in January 2023. Now he predicted that the presence of software development tools and problems with mechanical part drop testing might delay the launch.
