The original Dead Space was released in 2008 and is one of the top favorite of gamers who love survivor-horror games, but how does the remake fare? As it turns out, the 12 hours of gameplay that the latest Dead Space is offering you are worth it because it has managed to enhance the original game in almost every way. It has managed to add some new character details as well, which are able to present the creepy sci-fi horror story in the best possible way.
The renovations
You will find that the house of horrors that Dead Space offers has been renovated by its developer, Motive Studio and it looks downright amazing. The story follows Isaac Clarke, an engineer who is determined to find his scientist wife Nicole. The detail that you see on his engineering suit is extremely impressive and makes its predecessor appear cheap.
You will find that the spaceship surroundings of the game are even more spine-chilling than before because of how realistic everything looks. The moody lighting, walls overrun with pus-filled pimples and weathered steel surfaces all create just the environment. The Ishimura is also very striking and its restructuring gives you more room for exploration.
The combat
You will find that the combat of Dead Space requires a great level of accuracy because you have to disarm the golems instead of wasting your ammo on them. In addition, you will find that in terms of the threats you have to face as part of the game, some variety has been added this time around. This makes things quite interesting because they will keep you on your toes.
The good news is that Isaac also appears to be more nimble than he was before. The details that have been added to the enemies, such as the entrails and slime, also leave an impression.
More twists
Another good thing that you will find about the remake is that Dead Space has come up with creative new ways of ensuring tension levels remain high. They use new circuit breakers that require you to divert power between different elements of the environment. The odds may often seem overwhelming, but you are also given access to objects in your surroundings to even them out a bit.
However, the best part about the tension-filled adventure that Dead Space offers is that Motive Studio has opted to maintain the best moments of the game and has dramatically overhauled the weaker ones. You will find that they have made countless upgrades, some of which may seem minor, but are equally welcome.
As a matter of fact, newcomers to Dead Space have also been facilitated with the test drive of the seven weapon types and they have also upgraded the weapons. Special functions have also been added, which add to the fun.
The Verdict
You will find that this Dead Space remake has managed to flesh out Isaac’s story in a better way with some additional details. Motive Studio has done a great job of breathing new life into the sci-fi horror universe and it will keep you entertained.
