Meta is ready to announce its decision about allowing Donald Trump – The former American president, to join back to its social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. The former US President had to say goodbye to Twitter after it booted him off the platform in 2021. Elon Musk reunited a list of controversial personalities, including Trump, with their suspended Twitter accounts.
Trump Remains Silent Over His Return to social media
Donald Trump mounted unyielding attacks on the US voting’s integrity after his defect in the 2020 election. He also launched a bid several months back to regain power in the next election, intending to preempt potential rivals.
Trump has never been happy with Truth Social – his social media venture. He has eyed most significant shake-ups to the company, such as positions on Trump Media or Technology Group. The former US President’s frustration arrives as the social media platform has struggled heavily upon launch with persistent tech glitches and low traffic. It has now suffered from personnel matters.
He also introduced the Truth Social app to take on Big Tech. Trump and his allies said it would rival primary social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, which removed the former US president from their sites in 2020.
Trump reportedly had shown no interest in returning to giant social media sites. Also, he hasn’t yet started tweeting again after the Tesla owner reinstated the former US President’s account in November 2022.
Trump’s silence over rejoining Twitter and other social media platforms has led to some confusion because the former US president has revealed the value he would give to social media. He had once said he would never imagine being in power without it.
Facebook’s parent company, Meta Inc, has prepared to announce if it will let Donald Trump back on Instagram and Facebook. Meta had previously announced it would decide on the former president’s return by 7 January 2023. However, the company is likely to announce the decision later in the month.
Meta Focuses on Trump’s Return
Meta has initiated a working group to highlight the matter. They have gone through the scenario Donald Trump had to be out of the social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook. The group has people who know relevant operations. It includes individuals from public policy, communication, and content policy teams. However, Meta hasn’t responded to requests for comment.
The present scenario became a highlight after Twitter’s new boss – Elon Musk lifted a permanent ban on Trump two months back on Twitter after taking a poll from users on the social media platform.
Donald Trump said he was not interested in coming back to Twitter because he did not find any reason to do so.
The former president revealed his choice about returning to Twitter through a video when a panel asked him about his return to the social media at the annual leadership meeting of the Republican Jewish Coalition.
