It is clear that Oppo put a great deal of thought into making its tablet debut in the West because it did not come up with an all-dancing and all-signing flagship tablet. It is certainly capable of introducing one, but it opted to offer the Oppo Pad Air that turns out to be a rather good and affordable competitor of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8. The Oppo Pad Air makes a good first impression because it offers a decent display, a refined design and a competence performance in one package.
Design and build
If you look and feel the Oppo Pad Air, you will get an impression of a premium tablet because it is quite classy. It has an all-metal construction, which is quite slim at just 6.9mm, and the attractive and flat edges will remind you of the iPad. However, it is able to stand out from its rivals with the flourish it boasts on the top half of its back section.
The plastic panel has a gently undulating texture, which is both attractive and distinctive. In addition, it is also pleasant to grip when you are using the tablet in portrait view. The Oppo Pad Air weighs just 440g, which makes it supremely light and is available in Grey and Silver colors. It is a professional and sober tablet for adults, but it does not have a fingerprint sensor, which might be a downside in some eyes.
Screen and speakers
A 10.36 inch IPS LCD display can be found on the Oppo Pad Air, which has a 2000 x 1200 resolution, thereby offering you good viewing angles and more vibrant colors. The display refresh rate is 60Hz, which might be disappointing to some, but given how affordable it is, you should not be surprised.
The stereo speakers also add to the value of the Oppo Pad Air because this makes it great for web-based and video media content. There are two speakers on either side and they offer a clear sound.
Camera
The Oppo Pad Air has an 8Mp rear camera and it is an acceptable one. It will struggle with dynamic range and not give you the brightest pictures, but that is to be expected with such an affordable tablet. The front camera is 5Mp and it is a decent option for the purpose of video calls.
Battery life and charging
The 7040mAhbattery that Oppo Pad Air has to offer is a decent one and it can last for days for those who are light users. If you are a casual user, it would make an excellent tablet. If you are an excessive user, even then it can give you 8 hours or more. It comes with an 18W charger, which offers a good charging speed, but is not a fast charger.
The Verdict
Available with the Android 12, the Oppo Pad Air is a great full-sized tablet in a budget that has great design and decent performance. Its display is of superior quality and so is the sound and you will also be impressed with the battery life.
