TCL and Roku have entered into a partnership to introduce the RC630K series, with the former providing the TV tech and the latter bringing in the interface and software. The fact that these Roku TVs come with QLED display technology makes for an impressive bang for your buck.
Design and build
A look at the RC630K TV makes them seem more expensive than they actually are, thanks to their premium design. The TV is available in different sizes, including 43, 50, 55 and 65 inch as well. No matter what size you choose, there is a thin black bezel that surrounds the screen and the bottom has a bit thicker metal chin boasting TCL and Roku’s logos.
The entire unit is light and thin, which makes it an excellent TV for mounting on the wall, but it also come with a two-foot stand. It comes with a plastic, lightweight Roku remote, which offers the usual controls as well as shortcuts for Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, Freeview Play and Spotify.
Specs and features
You will get a smart TV experience with the RC630K series, which is a great, considering how reasonably priced it is. There is a complete suite of ports, including four HDMI ports, a CI card slot, aerial input, optical audio out, USB-A, a headphone jack, an analogue input and Ethernet. All of these are on the right side.
Roku handles all the smart features and software and the interface is responsive, fast and extremely easy to use. Most of the streaming apps are pre-installed. The settings are also laid out clearly and cleanly, so you can set things up as per your preference easily.
Picture and sound quality
QLED support is one of the highlights of the RC630K, which stands for Quantum dot LED, and offers great contrast and deep colors that allow both 4K and HD films to pop. It is also great for gaming purposes, particularly with the optional Game Mode. The TV offers 60Hz and also has good HDR brightness for its price. It should be noted that it supports all formats of HDR, which is not very common.
The TV also offers solid sound, thanks to the support of Dolby Audio and Atmosand Onkyo provides the built-in speakers that do a great job. They are deep and loud enough if you use the TV in a mid-size room. However, they may not give you the real bass you might be after in which case a soundbar, or separate speakers might be a good idea.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a winner, you do not have to look beyond the TCL RC630K because it is very rare to find such specifications at a reasonable price. In addition, it also offers you sizes to choose from and has been paired with good software to give you a great experience. Gamers may want to opt for something that offers 120fps, but otherwise, the TV is a great bet when you are looking for an overall package.
