WhatsApp Unveils New Features, including Blocking an Annoying Contact within Notifications

WhatsApp has introduced newer and better features to make the app’s use easy for its users. The Meta-owned instant messaging app has begun working on an update involving a block user shortcut within the notification bar.
Earlier, WhatsApp announced unveiling an updated feature to allow users to block annoying acquaintances within the conversation list. The app has brought its shortcut for users this time. It would let users stop someone from messaging them when the app sends an alert of their message on their devices.
The Block Shortcut
According to the WhatsApp tracking site, Meta plans to unveil a block user shortcut within the notification bar, though users cannot do this at all times. The shortcut will be visible only when the user receives a message from unwanted and unknown contacts.
The new features will be accessible in future updates of WhatsApp. Instant messaging has limited the feature to untrusted contacts since users may mistakenly tap the block option when replying to a contact’s message via notification, ending up blocking their trusted acquaintances.
Users can forward Media with the Caption
According to the tracking app’s announcement, WhatsApp would roll out a new feature update to allow users to forward media files with a caption to their contacts. The new feature aims to push all media types, including documents, images, videos, and GIFs, to their contacts while keeping the caption. Users would see the alert popping up when they forward a document, image, video, or GIF with a caption.
Furthermore, WhatsApp wants to educate its users about the new feature update. It allows them to remove the caption from the media file while they forward it to someone among their contacts. However, users installing the latest update of WhatsApp would be able to benefit from the feature.
Billions of worldwide individuals use WhatsApp, which makes the app a rewarding target for spammers. While WhatsApp has some primary tools to manage unwanted messaging, it offers a block option – the best way to keep one’s inbox clean.
WhatsApp has begun working on including some new shortcuts to make it easier to block annoying individuals and businesses. The latest beta version of WhatsApp comprises in-development features and new ways to block spam. The Beta v2.23.2.5 version will allow users to use a Block button alongside Mute and Reply options in the message notifications. Users will quickly stop any unknown person or new businesses from bothering them anymore.
Users can choose their existing conversations from the default Chats and tap on the overflow list in the top corner to find the new block option. The method involves several steps, but it is easier to block annoying users than the traditional process.
WhatsApp has rolled out both these blocking methods for the latest beta version of the app. Users can open the PlayStore and register for its beta program. If they do not want to do so, download the newest beta version of the instant messaging app from APK Mirror to use these features.
