The HP Dragonfly Folio G3 belongs to the lightweight business laptop range of the company and the 2-in-1 device is a luxurious status symbol for all executives who want to combine keyboard input with sketching and scribbling. The lid has a textured covering, which is polyurethane and not real leather, and it makes the device satisfying to see and comfy to hold.
Configurations and design
The HP Dragonfly Folio G3 base model costs $2,379 and boasts a 12th Generation Core i7-1255U processor, a 512GB NVMe SSD and 16GB of RAM. The 13.5 inch IPS touch screen boasts a pixel resolution of 1,920-by-1,280, Intel 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E and a two-button stylus. Another important thing to note is that the unit only weighs 3.09 pounds, which makes it immensely easy to carry.
The list of ports is a tad small on the HP Dragonfly Folio G3, as it has just two on its left flank that function as USB4 ports with DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 4 functionality. There is also a SIM card slot and an audio jack. The right edge has a connector that recharges the 6-inch pen it comes with. There is no Ethernet port, or HDMI port.
Cameras and speakers
The webcam that the HP Dragonfly Folio G3 boasts is capable of capturing 6MP 16:9 and 8MP 4:3 images and is capable of shooting 30fps videos. The shots are colorful and well-lit and you will not experience any static or noise. You can use the top-row function keys for muting the microphones and toggling the camera.
There is also Windows Hello recognition and an Auto Lock &Awake utility for ensuring the security of the system. You will also find quad speakers that have a discrete amplifier, which pump out spectacular and loud sounds that have a good amount of bass. There is also AI-based microphone noise reduction included in the HP Audio Control software, along with an equalizer and movie, music and voice playback presets.
The stylus
The stylus pen that HP has included has two buttons on its barrel and another one near the top that can be used for launching apps like OneNote, or Microsoft Whiteboard. You can also launch other functions with long, single, or double presses, such as screen snipping.
You also have the option of customizing all three buttons. It is also possible to adjust the tilt sensitivity and pen tip sensitivity and detaching it from the side will launch a pen menu. The stylus is fully capable of keeping up with your scribbles and swoops easily.
Battery
You will find that the HP Dragonfly Folio G3 is capable of giving you at least 12 hours of battery life, depending on what you are planning to use it for. It also offers adequate brightness and color coverage so you will certainly not be disappointed in this regard.
