Microsoft is ready to introduce a new version of its popular app Teams in March. The software giant has reconstructed it from the ground to enhance its system for laptops and PCs. Sources reveal Microsoft has already had its hands on the testing process of the new Teams known as MS Teams 2.0 or 2.1 broadly inside Microsoft. It will also roll out the potential preview of MS Teams for the users next month.Â
Microsoft began working on the new Teams client years ago. The updated version should employ fifty percent less memory and the CPU to ensure a better battery life on the laptop. Although Microsoft allowed the consumers to access some of the early work in the built-in Teams on Windows 11, organizations use the older Teams version because of the work required to reconstruct the client. The new Teams will take the app from Electron to the Edge WebView 2 tech.Â
The software giant has also switched to a Javascript library – React, to gain more User Interface improvement for Teams in the months ahead. Rish Tandon, the former head of MS Teams engineering, detailed the initial advancements for the app for Windows 11 in 2021 in a Twitter thread.
According to Tandon, Microsoft will use the new architecture as the primary tool for potential Teams improvements. The architecture will be handy for the company is adding support for numerous accounts, working on life scenarios, releasing predictability, and scaling up for the client.Â
The new Microsoft Teams will be faster and more responsive when users are present in a meeting or respond to messages. The improvements in Teams should be a reply to the criticisms and complaints around its performance, especially on old laptops. Microsoft Teams users will get the new version in late March. The preview to the new app will include a toggle to move back to the existing Teams if required. Another update reveals that the company will integrate Microsoft Teams as a part of Windows 11.Â
Windows 11 will Have Microsoft Teams as an Integrated Part
According to reports, the upcoming Windows 11 will have Microsoft Teams deeply woven into it. Panos Panay previewed the new version of Windows and explained how it could be easier and faster to create or join Teams meetings. Windows 11 will have the app placed in its Start menu and available as a built-in app. Users would be able to mute or unmute themselves from the taskbar.Â
Microsoft Teams had 145 million regular active users in April 2022, despite the service having gone through occasional outages and stumbles. The company announced its free consumer version in May last year, whereas it previewed a new front-row layout that will emerge in the coming months. Â
According to Microsoft, users can instantly connect via chat, text, voice, or video with their contacts regardless of the device or platform they use across iOS, Android, or Windows. They can also connect the person with no Teams app downloaded through two-way SMS.Â
