Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Review

At its event in February 2023, Samsung announced four new laptops, one of which is the Galaxy Book 3 Pro. This is a regular clamshell device that you can get in both 14 inch and 16 inch screen options. The laptop has been designed for everyday use and it is an excellent option for this purpose.

Design and build

Since Samsung relaunched its laptops back in 2020, the company has opted to stick to the same design and it shows no signs of making any changes anytime soon. This means that the Galaxy Book 3 Pro has an aluminum body with a silver logo on its exterior. The understated aesthetic may seem boring to some, but the minimalist design is quite appealing. It is available in Beige and Graphite and is also quite lightweight.

The 14-inch Galaxy Book 3 Pro weighs 1.17kg, while the bigger one weighs 1.56kg. The chassis has a thickness of 12.5mm, which means it is quite portable. A light and thin laptop usually compromises on durability, but that does not seem to be the issue here. The Book 3 Pro is quite robust because of a solid hinge design and use of premium materials.

It boasts a healthy port selection as well. These include two USB-C ports supporting Thunderbolt 4 that enable easy connection with devices and fast data transfer. A 3.55mm audio jack, one microSD card slot, a full-size HDMI port and a USB-A port are the other options.

Keyboard, trackpad and webcam

There is a full-size keyboard on the Galaxy Book 3 Pro, but the 16-inch model also has a separate number pad. All keys are responsive and clicky, so typing will be fast and accurate. There are three levels of backlighting supported. There is a huge trackpad below the keyboard, which gives you the illusion of more control. But, the size could lead to accidental clicks.

The top right of the keyboard also has a power button that functions as a fingerprint sensor. There is also a 1080p webcam, which boasts one of the best built-in sensors and the dual audio mics make the Galaxy Book 3 Pro great for video calling.

Screen, speakers and specs

The screen of the Galaxy Book 3 Pro is one of the best you will find on any laptop due to its detailed, rich and vibrant viewing experience. Both models have a 2880 x 1800 AMOLED panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It gives great color accuracy and the refresh rate can switch between 60Hz and 120Hz, or fixed at either. There is no touchscreen, which means S Pen is not supported.

As for Audio, the Book 3 Pro has Dolby Atmos support and quad speakers, so they can deliver room-filling and crisp sounds. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro offers a choice between Intel’s Core i5-1340P and Core i7-1360P and RAM can be 16 to 32GB DDR5, which keeps everything running smoothly.
