Samsung has something for people who spend a significant amount of time using portrait apps, such as TikTok and more. The company has come up with a 4K QLED screen that it has named The Sero and it is capable of rotating from a traditional 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio to a vertical one of 9:16. This means that you can supersize your social feed.
Another important thing to know about The Sero is that it does not require any furniture because there is a substantial Bluetooth speaker stand that comes with it.
Design and build
As a regular TV, The Sero’s profile appears to be ‘T’ shaped. There is a single rear foot that props up the TV due to which the panel reclines a bit. However, you do not need to worry about it wobbling as it remains solidly in place. There is a powerful 4.1 sound system that you can find at the base of the screen. There is a pop-out panel that covers all the inputs on the back panel. These include two USB ports, three HDMI ports, terrestrial and aerial inputs and a CI slot.
There are two zappers that come with the screen. One is the solar-powered Bluetooth pointer that Samsung has launched and the other is a standard IR remote control. Another good thing about The Sero is that the user-interface is able to adapt to the aspect ratio you choose.
Picture quality
The visuals you will find are like a mid-range QLED, but it is distinguishable due to its matt finish. It also has impressive texture management and image detail. The Sero boasts a Quantum Processor 4K and has a 43-inch screen, which is pixel dense. This combination delivers crisp and colorful 4K imagery. It has a low-glare screen, so it can easily be used in bright environments.
It also comes with the autopilot setting found in other Samsung QLEDs. The Sero also appears to have a better-than-expected HDR performance. Even though it does not support Dolby Vision, there is HDR10+ Adaptive and HLG. The QLED also performs well in terms of latency, making it a good choice for gaming.
Sound quality
You will find an above-average sound system and the forcefulness and weight is not something you would expect from a 43-inch TV. It can function as a standalone Bluetooth speaker, as you can stream music directly from your smartphone. You can also turn off the display when playing music.
Price and Availability
There is just one size available in the mobile-friendly television and Samsung has priced The Seroat $1,999. The original model was introduced in 2021, but you can opt for the 2022 upgrade, which offers you all the features mentioned above.
The Verdict
The Serois a unique and appealing TV solution that boasts a rotating screen. It can deliver excellent HDR performance and even though it sounds gimmicky, you will find that it is immensely useful and fun. You will be able to experience something entirely new and the picture performance is wonderful.
