Uber reportedly plans to integrate its app with Apple’s CarPlay. The step will allow online taxi drivers who own iPhones to use the Uber app through Apple’s CarPlay. It is a product used by most car manufacturers to make the head unit a display and controller for iOS-based gadgets.
Uber emailed all US-based drivers to notify the new update today. The integration will be available to all drives in the United States by the end of February 2023. It will let drivers navigate, add rides to queues, and see and accept trips without switching between the smartphone and the screen.
Integration of Apple’s CarPlay with the Uber App
Uber intends to give drivers access to a larger screen to make viewing the features of its navigation system easier by integrating the app into CarPlay. Drivers will also benefit from heat maps with high demand, street sides, and more routes.
According to Uber’s email, drivers should follow a few steps to connect CarPlay with the driver app. These include opening the app on the iPhone to Go online. Then, the driver will connect their device to their car wirelessly or through cable. Once connected, they can open CarPlay to get ready for the ride.
Uber Amazonification
Uber hosted a global assortment of product features and reveals – Go, Get, Give, in the first quarter of 2022. They cover everything from voice orders for Uber Eats and booking party buses to linking travel plans to Gmail and skipping the food lines.
The Product Reveals can create new revenue streams or attracts users with specific goals. Uber comprises a significant end-game, which creates a closed enterprise loop with every product customer in other Uber channels.
Uber also launched another collection of product updates and new features under Go, Get, Give’s marketing banner. It enables Uber customers to do many things, including booking rides with OpenTable and Viator via the app, scheduling Uber gift cards for Christmas day, and searching merchants for the right bottle for delivery.
Amazonification
Uber came into existence with a strategy to scale at all costs. The company struggled to crack the indefinable success nut via ride-hailing. It introduced Uber Eats as a food delivery pillar. The online taxi app has a page out of the Amazon book to attract new and existing users to spend more money on Uber.
Uber increases its ride revenue when customers book events via Viator and then book an Uber ride to reach there. Dara Khosrowshahi, the CEO at Uber, in November 2022 said that the company cross-sold food delivery customers into grocery and grocery customers into alcohol to return to mobility. The cross-sell across the platform increased and drove new consumers and retention.
Uber gross bookings reached $29 billion – 26 percent more than in 2021. The Monthly Active Platform Consumers or MAPC increased by 14% from 109m quarterly users to 124m. Faster gross bookings than MAPC might infer that every customer spent significantly on the platform.
