YouTube has recently introduced a new AI-enabled feature that lets creators dub their videos in numerous languages. The new feature aims to help content creators reach broader audiences with their creations.
Google – the owner company of YouTube, reveals in a blog post that it excitedly expands the availability of the AI-powered feature to thousands of more creators. Multi-language audios let viewers watch videos dubbed in their languages. Viewers can see more new content that they otherwise do not see.
Content creators can use the AI-enabled feature to expand their worldwide reach and find new audiences for their YouTube channels. Also, the new feature will allow them to host videos in multiple languages on the same YouTube channel rather than creating various channels to host such creations. It will help reduce the time, effort, and costs of dubbing videos in different languages and hosting them through several channels.
YouTube found creators who tested multi-language dubbed videos observed over fifteen percent of their watch time from the creation’s non-primary language.
The average time of the video saw over two million views and over two million hours of dubbed videos regularly since January 2023.
YouTube has brought the AI-enabled feature under the testing process. In the early tests with many creators, Google-owned has already seen over 3,500 multi-language videos dubbed in more than forty languages.
Placement of the AI-Powered Feature
YouTube users can access the new AI-enabled feature by clicking on the gear icon on any video, including those posted by MrBeast – the popular YouTuber. A new option of the Audio Track allows users to see numerous language options, such as Hindi or Japanese. They can also make their videos default to their preferred language.
Aloud Artificial Intelligence Solution
Google unveiled Aloud – the AI-powered feature in March last year. The tech giant released its 8th edition for the Indian event in December last year and said it had tested Aloud with Apollo Hospitals. The product comes from Area 120 – an in-house incubator for Google’s experimental projects.
Some time back, Stupid Game – a Korean-language series, became one of Netflix’s most popular shows. Analysts believe the popularity is because of the subtitle or dubbed episodes in audiences’ preferred languages.
YouTube has, perhaps, taken the idea of launching a similar feature by inspiration from Netflix since it aims to cater to a broader creator economy. It has rolled out the support for multi-language audios, allowing creators to dub new and existing creations and reach a global audience. It is worth mentioning that MrBeast had already tested the multi-language audio feature of the video hosting platform.
The Google-owned platform built the technology at YouTube to support multi-language audio tracks. However, creators can partner with third-party dubbing providers to make audio tracks. Creators can choose a diverse audio track from a similar menu where they adjust other settings like audio quality or subtitles after uploading the video. They can use the primary or non-primary language they prefer to support their audio tracks.
