The Ayaneo 2 handheld gaming PC was certainly worth the wait, as it comes with a bezel-less screen, AMD Ryzen 7 6800U processor and a 1200p resolution. It offers an ergonomic chassis that you can use to play for hours comfortably and you can also see major improvements in games in terms of performance. Thanks to these upgrades, the Ayaneo 2 is undoubtedly the best and it is certainly worth buying.
Design
Most of the design of the Ayaneo 2 remains the same as Ayaneo Next and Ayaneo Air, but it has managed to change things in areas that make the most difference. As for size, the device has a 7-inch LCD screen and its dimensions are 10.4 x 4.2 x 0.9 inches. They have also redesigned the ergonomics, so it is more ovular and easy to grip.
Other than these changes, the bezel-less screen is a major upgrade. The screen extends edge-to-edge with a 1920×1200 resolution and 16:100 ratio. The latest all-in-one mobile processor from AMD is undoubtedly powerful that has sixteen threads and eight cores, but it comes with the latest RDNA 2 graphics and has faster clock speeds.
Not only does it function as a handheld gaming system, the Ayaneo 2 is also a full-fledged PC and can be found in several configurations. They start with 16GB memory and NVMe storage of 512 GB at a price of $1,099.
Features
For the high price tag, you will find that the Ayaneo 2 has a lot to offer. The joysticks and the triggers are some of the best you will come across on any handheld device. A pair of gyroscopes also augment controls, which can be used for tracking the movements of the Ayaneo 2. Motion controls also work after you activate them with the bumper button, or the left trigger, but they are not very responsive.
Given that it is a handheld, it comes with a number of face buttons, bumpers, D-Pads and there are also buttons to spare. Rather than separate buttons, the D-pad on the Ayaneo 2 opts for a cross. The ABXY buttons have a rather snappy feel to them and they come with good tactility. You will also find Menu and View buttons, similar to an Xbox controller and there is also a dedicated button for accessing the Aya Space app.
There are also customizable buttons next to the bumpers, along with a ‘=’ button that you can customize for your own commands.
Other functions
The sleep and power button also serves as the fingerprint reader and it is now on the left side, making it easier to access with the new chassis design. The logging in process is fluid, fast and natural. The screen also makes the Ayaneo 2 a good purchase because it feels more immersive and bigger, thanks to the bezel-less design. It is also vibrant and bright and also offers excellent colors.
The speakers in the Ayaneo 2 are also quite decent. They sound a bit thin, but that is to be expected with a handheld device. There is also haptic sound feedback and this is certainly a perk.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a powerhouse when it comes to a handheld device, the Ayaneo 2 outshines every other in terms of performance.
