The G502 line from Logitech undoubtedly comprises of some of the best gaming mouse designs. The ergonomic mouse comes with a ton of customizable inputs and also feels good. The company has now provided an upgrade in the form of G502X Plus that boasts a large RBG light bar.
Design and Features
The G502X Plus does come with some tangible changes over its predecessor, as it appears to be more optimized and streamlined. The device weighs just 3.7 ounces and measures 3.13 x 5.25 x 1.63 inches, which makes it slightly wider and lighter than the G502Lightspeed. This is certainly a good thing because it means the shape is curvy and fills your hand easily, even if you have to hold it for long stretches.
However, the most distinctive feature of the G502X Plus is the large 8-point RBG light, which can be found alongside the rear button on the left side and on the top, while jutting out a little on the right. This change may be purely cosmetic, but the pop of color can really make a difference in how the mouse looks.
The inputs
There are 12 inputs that the G502 X Plus comes with and nearly all of them are customizable. The top has nine buttons, which include a scroll wheel with tilt inputs that can be customized and a center click, right and left click, two additional buttons on the left and two buttons in the center.
As far as the sides are concerned, they have the forward and back buttons, along with the ‘first person shooter’ button that will come under your thumb. New shapes have been given to some of the buttons, which makes it easy to use them. For instance, Logitech has raised the left edge buttons and this makes it easy for you to use them with the side of your thumb.
Battery life and charging
The G502 Lightspeed already had impressive battery life and charging and they have been upgraded for the G502 X Plus. The mouse can last for about 130 hours if you do not have the RBG light on, while the former only gave 60 hours of battery life. But, with RGB lighting on, the battery life will understandably drop considering the size of the light. It will not last for more than 37 hours in that case.
The mouse can be used for somewhere between a week and 10 days with the light at maximum brightness on a single charge. But, if you pair it with the Logitech G Powerplay charging mousepad, then you have nothing to worry about in terms of battery life.
There have also been a number of other small changes made for streamlining purposes, like removing the trio of indicator lights on the Lightspeedwith just one above the scroll wheel on the G502 X Plus to show which profile you are using.
The Verdict
Suffice it to say, the G502 X Plus is an excellent improvement and the modern and sleek look certainly makes this elite gaming mouse a good buy.
