Sony has finally introduced its TV lineup for 2023. The company unveiled Bravia XR sets, including a bright QD-OLED with modest improvements and iterative refinement. Many television models have slight brightness improvements and more dimming zones than Sony’s last year’s TV sets.
Like Sony’s previous televisions, image processing continues to be a significant draw for new TV lineups. Its Cognitive Process XR makes Sony TVs stand out in the competitive and challenging market. This time the company has introduced the XR Clear Image feature to adapt picture adjustment according to the source material’s quality.
New TV Lineup by Sony Â
According to Sony, its smart system can detect 1080p video, even when the television has a 4K signal. It includes additional refinements to the image processing and preserves elements, such as film gain.
Every Sony 2023 television keeps running Google TV like their operating system. The software comprises a content-forward interface and works well with Apple features, including AirPlay 2 or HomeKit. It also supports Amazon on top of the integrated Google services like Assistant voice search.
All these televisions support 4K gaming at 120Hz. They still have two HDMI 2.1 ports with another two at 2.0. While Sony offers deep integration with the PlayStation 5, many updated and newest gaming software features remain a part of the new TV lineup.
Sony Bravia XR Models
The entry-level model X90L is an array of local dimming LED sets intended to offer convincing performance for its price. In 2023, Sony has chosen an aluminum finish over a plastic bezel. Based on the customer’s preferred size, the X9OL will comprise up to 30% higher peak brightness and 60% more local dimming zones than its processor. For instance, a 98’ X9OL has the maximum screen size in Sony’s new lineup.
Many analysts anticipate Sony’s QD-OLED A95L could emerge as its most impressive television in 2023. Since the company had the A95K on the top list of 4K OLED televisions last year, Sony feels the pressure will continue to bother it. The company has not stopped manufacturing its Mini LED television sets. Its X93L Mini LED television has replaced last year’s X95K model.
Sony believes the new Mini LED will have a similar performance. It will launch the television models in 65-inch, 77-inch, and 85-inch sizes. The company has recently added a second Mini LED set with about 20% more limited dimming zones to diminish perceptible blooming. On the other hand, the Sony X95L model will be available in 85-inch only.
Eco Dashboard
Like everyone, Sony wants to help the earth. Its Eco Dashboard refers to a central hub, which users can access through the home screen. It encourages customers to act eco-consciously and be careful of settings requiring more power. The company has brought all these settings in the usual menus, though it longed to keep them together in a place.
Sony also seems to follow LG, Samsung, and other tech companies to add a specialized game menu to its TV lineup. It will show the settings menu intended for gaming rather than letting users navigate through the typical screens. They can toggle motion blur reduction, contrast adjustments, and a constant on-screen crosshair. Users will get an option to adjust screen size according to their game.
Unluckily, Sony does not comprise the live frame rate in its game menu. It is something that many users want access to monitor performance. However, the game menu allows you to adjust the max frame rate and current resolution. Sony has not shared prices for new Bravia XR televisions ready to arrive in the market this year.
