The kid-focused app, Zigazoo, is known for its TikTok-style short video-sharing format. The startup has reportedly launched a separate app targeting Gen Z users aged 13 and older.
The original app – was rebranded to Zigazoo Kids as is for Gen Alpha (3-12). The new app has the flagship name and is invite-only. The company will launch the new app on March 25, Saturday. Young age users will automatically migrate to Zigazoo Kids.
The new Gen Z-focused app has a video thread-style platform. It does not allow users to comment on posts because they can only respond to each other through short-form videos.
The company considers this communication type is handy in reducing trolling and negative comments. Users can respond to video-driven prompts, including what is on their minds or what are their favorite games.
Zigazoo Includes Safety Measures
Besides prohibiting negativity on the platform, Zigazoo comprises other safety measures, including human-in-the-loop moderation and optional private accounts. The app also has an algorithm aiming to promote positivity.
Unlike Zigazoo Kids, the Gen Z product does not involve parental consent. Its direct messaging feature uses auto-moderation software.
On the other hand, TikTok utilizes disabled direct messaging for its individuals under 16., but it only moderates messages reported by users. searchable music, trending sounds, and the ability to make a Vibe are among the new features. The vibe is a visual clip that motivates users to respond to its content. Zigazoo Kids allows verified brands and creators to make a Vibe video around the content, ranging from music and dance to gaming, memes, fashion, and more.
Moreover, Zigazoo will roll out a few entertainment channels, letting creators lead the content. Hannah Kosh, a TikTok creator, has many celebrity gossips and culture-based videos. She will have a channel targeting entertainment news. Likewise, Write will make a channel like Callie Haverda, who says she chose Zigazoo because it has created a positive community.
Haverda admires the concept of including organic content in a unique social media platform that focuses more on creating a safer and better place for the new generations than attracting individuals with all content types. She aims to have fun and create entertaining art without worrying about trolling or negative comments. Zigazoo offers what most creators need, and Haverda is excited to be part of the initial startup.
Nontoxic Environment for Generation Z Customers
Gen Z consumers prefer the kid-focused short video app for its nontoxic environment. They feel deferred on other social media networks with toxic elements, unrealistic beauty standards, cyberbullying, and inappropriate content for children.
An ORIGIN study reveals that forty-eight percent of Gen Z participants feel more sad, depressed, or anxious on social media networks, whereas 68% of respondents said that they do a social media detox.
Accordingly, the launch of a Gen Z-focused application in the current environment is notable, especially given that TikTok attended the Congressional hearing.
While the TikTok CEO tried to reassure individuals about the app’s impact on children and teens, Shou Zi Chew categorically said parents should take the most responsibility for how their broods use the app.
