Nokia is back with another device to target the budget 5G market and it turns out to be the company’s finest effort seen so far. The G60 5G is running Android 12 and its unique rear panel and the massive display on the front make it a rather good-looking device. Some might find the camera basic and the performance mediocre, but the $329.99 price tag means that you cannot ask for more.
Design and build
The Nokia G60 5G is certainly above the previous iterations from the company in the same range, as the device is quite sturdy at just 190g. It is not heavy enough to feel like a brick and not too light that it takes away the premium feel. It has a standard setup otherwise. The display is 6.58 inches and there is a camera added in the bezel for facial recognition and selfies.
There is also a headphone jack and USB-C port on the bottom and there is also a volume rocker and power button on the side. There is a trifecta of cameras on the back within a refined bump, but the back panel itself is the primary eye-catching feature. The finish is slightly textured and it helps the Nokia G60 5G stand out. 100% recycled plastic has been used for building the back and it boasts a warranty of three years.
Screen and speakers
The Nokia G60 5G does not have an OLED screen, but you will not have any such complaints with the IPS display. This is because it boasts a resolution of 2400 x 1080, which is just a bit above than what is considered Full HD. The 120Hz refresh rate is the big plus that this device offers, but the phone will determine when it is required and adjust the refresh rate accordingly.
The single speaker at the bottom does leave more to be desired, a complaint common amongst Nokia devices. But, it is able to handle voice better, which means you will not have any issues with calls and podcasts. Music is better when you use earphones.
Specs and performance
Nokia has opted to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 and it comes with both 64 and 128 GB storage options. The RAM stands at 4GB and this ensures a smooth performance. But, the most impressive aspect is the gaming performance, as the phone does not really feel sluggish even when you are putting it through the paces. This is certainly a surprise, considering that it is a mid-range phone.
Camera
The handsome back panel of the G60 5G boasts a trio of cameras. The 5Mp ultrawidedoes a decent job, but it does lack some depth. However, it is the 50Mp primary sensor that truly delivers and then some. As far as the front camera is concerned, it is an 8Mp sensor that takes acceptable pictures.
Battery Life
The Nokia G60 5G has a 4,500 mAh battery, but it seems that can just keep on going and you can use it for up to two days. The box does not come with a charger, but a USB-C cable is available. It does support fast charging of up to 20W.
The Verdict
Even though there is a lot of competition in the budget 5G category, the Nokia G60 5G has done a good job and is worth it.
