Last year in September, the RTX 4080 12GB had been announced, but it had been ‘unlaunched’ and its rebirth is now in the form of the RTX 4070 Ti. It comes with a price tag of $799, which puts it firmly between the RTX 4070 and the RTX 4080, but offering a faster performance than most. There is no doubt that it is a powerful card that can offer most gamers enough power, even if they are using 1440p monitors.
The version
This time around, Nvidiaopted to not launch a Founders Edition version of the card, which means you have several versions at your disposal and they all come with unique features. The Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ticomes with a triple-fan cooler and it gets a performance edge with the minor factory overclock. The card falls in the middle tier, which makes it more affordable than the rest and it still offers extra features like RGB lighting and BIOS support.
Thanks to its price premium, you can enjoy a better cooler, faster clock speeds and improved looks due to its backlit logo and RGB-ringed fans. It takes 2.5 slots, as it is 13.2 inches long and 5.5 inches wide. Like the rest of the cards that belong to the 40-series, this one is a monster that boasts its own support bracket.
The design and build
The same Ada Lovelace architecture has been used for the 4070 Tias the RTX4080 and 4090, but it has an AD104 graphics processor. It comprises of 60 Ray Tracing Cores, 240 Tensor Cores and 7680 CUDA Cores, which puts it 21% less than the RTX 4080. It offers higher core clock speeds at 2,610 MHz and has a 12GB of DDR6X memory.
Since it has opted to scale back in terms of processing power, the card is able to be more power-efficient. While a 12-pin power connector is still used, it only draws 285 watts of power. It comes with a triple-fan large cooler as well as dual BIOS support. The Windforce system has been used in the cooler, which comprises of three 100mm fans and the heatsink is twice the size of the circuit board.
The heat is drawn away by copper heatpipesfrom the components and it goes into a vapor chamber that can be swept through the cutout found on the back of the card. The system is quite effective, as it was seen in the last generation.
The performance
In terms of general performance, the RTX 4070 Tiis able to do quite well as compared to other cards. As far as gaming is concerned, the card delivered some impressive results even at 1440p and did an excellent job where 4K resolution is concerned. It offers great frame rates and maintains its speed, while remaining silky smooth for the most part.
The Verdict
Once you put the RRTX 4070 Ti through its paces, it is easy to see that the card is an excellent one and can stand toe-to-toe with the RTX 3090 introduced in the last generation.
