OpenAI CEO Demands Regulations Amid Fears Artificial Intelligence Could Harm the Society

While Artificial Intelligence technology has taken the world by storm, many tech analysts believe it may lead to significant damage to the world. Sam Altman, the Chief Executive Officer of OpenAI, has warned the politicians in the US. He spoke before the US Congress, revealing the government regulation of Artificial Intelligence could be a wise move given the potential harm the tech poses to the world.
The company behind the AI-powered ChatGPT is known for being the fastest-growing user app in today’s era. The app relies on Large Language Model technology powered by the company’s GPT 3.5. It also has pushed Generative AI into the light and caused global authorities to scramble for survival.
According to Sam Altman, he fears the technology industry causes significant harm to society in several different ways. Richard Blumenthal unlocked proceeding through a recorded speech, sounding like his voice, but it was a vocal sound clone of his speeches. The voice clone used text generated through ChatGPT for the address.
Mr. Blumenthal says the result is impressive. The government should ask AI firms to test their tech systems and reveal known hazards before making them available to the public. He also raises concerns about how potential AI systems could destabilize human employment. Mr. Altman agreed with the politician’s sentiments expressed before him. He said if Artificial Intelligence tech goes wrong, it could be quite worse, and the technology industry wants to raise about it.

The AI industry yearns to work with the US government to prevent harm from happening. It also keeps an eye on the downside case and the task required to mitigate that. Mr. Altman also proposed a global or US agency that could authorize the most powerful artificial intelligence systems, take the license away, and guarantee compliance with safety standards.
Mr. Altman believes the future of work is a particular anxiety for many individuals because of the increasing AI automation. However, the other side will have far greater employment opportunities, whereas today’s jobs will be at a better pace.

Many people raised concerns encircling its potential effects on education, given that students could use it to cheat on their educational assignments. The rapid increase of tech has caused broader concerns regarding AI-powered tools to misguide people, intrude upon copyright protection laws, spread misinformation, and take jobs away from humans.
New Regulations in EuropeÂ
Given the European Union is on the way to forming its AI Act, a European Parliament committee demands strengthening its legislative proposal regarding relevant regulation. Nothing indicates Congress would draft new AI rules in the United States, but European countries on the other side of the Atlantic have begun working on relevant regulations. The EU bill is about AI systems’ classification at four risk levels. The regulation will not subject those AI systems deemed safe, and it will ban those considered unacceptably unsafe or risky to the world.
