Tinder continues to make the dating app respectful and safe for its users. The company has updated its social guidelines to do the same. It announced taking social handles away from bios as a part of these updates.
The dating app’s community guidelines will also discourage from posting their private chats with their match on other social media platforms. According to Tinder, it will make public profiles and bios social handles less to prevent its platform from becoming a place where individuals try gaining followers on their social media channels.
While Tinder users cannot display their social handles, they can still use Tinder’s Instagram integration to share their social media profiles with their matches. The dating app users cannot promote their commercial activities on the platform. Tinder has introduced a firm policy, highlighting that the app makes personal connections rather than promoting businesses.
Updated Community Guidelines
On Friday, Tinder published a press release saying it does not offer users a platform to make money or promote businesses. The community members should not promote, advertise, or use social links or handle to obtain followers, do campaigns, fundraise, or sell products. The company will eradicate social handles from its public profiles to help combat this.
Tinder announced its policy regarding posting its platform’s chat on other social networks. The company highlights users must not share private conversations with their matches.
The dating app notes many people like to post their partial or wholesome chats on other networks, whereas it wants to make these conversations available on Tinder only. Since Tinder conversations often go viral on social media platforms, including TikTok or Twitter, it announces its updated policy.
Furthermore, Tinder has clarified that a person should have an account and create separate accounts for every partner. It indicates a couple should avoid using a single-user account on dating while looking for a potential partner. Users can use Tinder’s latest Relationship Types bios to show if they want an ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, or open relationship.
According to the updated community guidelines, members should not make fake personalities or file false reports against other users. The company also reminds them to respect others’ limitations and not overshare anything on the platform. Tinder encourages community members to make the most of its in-app features to identify their goals and work on their desired relationship types.
Photo Verification
Tinder released its updated guidelines after it rolled out a new AI-powered update to the Photo Verification feature, allowing users to prove they are not a chatbot or cat-fisher. Earlier, people would use their pictures to become verified on Tinder and get a blue check.
Tinder requires a video selfie rather than using photos to strengthen this process. It will also allow community users to restrict their conversations to Photo Verified members.
The press release also reveals that most users on Tinder are 18-25 and often use the platform as their first dating experience. The company uses the updated community guidelines to guide these daters to help start their dating journey and use healthy habits to make this expedition a memorable experience.
