Aimed at the 1080p crowd, the Radeon RX 7600 has been introduced by AMD as a budget graphics card and it starts at a price tag of $269.
The price
The current price of the Radeon RX 7600 makes it one of the most affordable graphics card of the current generation that are available in the market. The closest competitor is the RTX 4060 Ti from Nvidia and that is priced about $100 higher. But, like other graphics cards, this is just the starting price, as there is lighting and fancy coolers to take into account.
Moreover, the AMD Radeon RX 6600 was the last generation counterpart of the Radeon RX 7600 and even that started at $329, so this is certainly cheaper. The reduced price could be considered as an indication that PC manufacturers are realizing they can no longer stick to the same pricing used in the COVID-era, so they might start coming down.
Design and specs
The Radeon RX 7600 is very small for a graphics card, as it is just about 8 inches, which makes it a great option for smaller PC builds. Its low-power nature means that you only require an 8-pin connector for it. The graphics card is also based on RDNA 3, which means its ray tracing cores are updated and offer better power efficiency.
The 7600 has 32 compute units, which have 64 stream processors each.This generation also brings AI accelerators, but it does not really make much of a difference in gaming as yet.
Performance
As mentioned above, the Radeon RX 7600 graphics card has been designed for 1080p gaming, but it does not mean that the card does not struggle. It does better in the case of rasterized and traditional workloads. You will find that the graphics card is slower as opposed to other options in the market, but this also varies from game to game. Those with ray tracing suffer the most, but it delivers a decent performance most of the time.
1080p
A graphics card that is only good for 1080p gaming in 2023 does not really sound like a good deal, but it is actually sensible. This is because the latest data shows that 1080p gamers are the highest in number, even more that 1440p, which is considered the sweet spot in the world of PC gaming. 4K gaming has generated a lot of hype with ray tracing, but this does not mean that 1080p gaming is a thing of the past.
While the Radeon RX 7600 can use some improving in terms of ray tracing, but it is the best option currently available for 1080p gaming.
The Verdict
With a price of just $269, the Radeon RX 7600graphics card is the most affordable current-generation option available for 1080p gaming. Most of the time, the graphics card is able to achieve ray tracing quite effectively and can deliver an excellent 1080p gaming experience, but there are some hiccups that do need improvement.
