4K gaming monitors have become very popular these days. A better resolution is what every gamer wants, but it has to come with an exceptional panel for it to really deliver impressive visuals. With a price tag of $1,000, the Corsair Xeneon32UHD144 is able to live up to a number of expectations when it comes to the gaming monitor experience.
Design and features
In terms of aesthetics, you will find that Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144 is a downright marvel and it is one that other monitors should aspire to. The stand is different because it does not have a latching mechanism for connecting to the back of the monitor panel. Rather, a pair of hooks and four screws are needed, but it is still one of the most robust stands in the market.
There is also a cable routing system that has a number of clipping brackets for guiding cables and you are free to let them out at different heights. While its aesthetics might be unusual, the front has an opening that gives you space for placing other gaming accessories. The monitor is built rather gorgeously, as it has smooth edges and a thin panel.
As far as connectivity is concerned, the monitor supports two HDMI 2.1 ports, a Type-C port for supporting DP Alt-Mode, DisplayPort 1.4 and another USB-C connection. The back also has a joystick for navigating the settings. But, there are no speakers, or rear lights, which is a tad disappointing, given how much space it takes.
Testing
In terms of color, you will find that the Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144knocks it out of the park. The accuracy is extremely precise and even if you crack up the brightness, it does not affect the accuracy. If you are looking for a monitor you can also use for editing photos, this is it.
But, you will have issues in terms of contrast because this is where the monitor is severely lacking. This is certainly a downside because even budget IPS panels do not have this problem. The local dimming feature is also nothing special, as it often creates dark areas. HDR performance is also not very impressive, which is another downside when you are spending $1,000.
Gaming
Considering the visual performance of the Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144, you will find that the results in your gaming experience are a mixed bag. In some instances, the gaming monitor can be downright stunning. A colorful and brilliant scene makes use of the brightness and color gamut of the monitor. The refresh rate of 144Hz is also handy in this respect.
But, when the games turn dark, you will find it difficult to see the details and this can be extremely disappointing. While it will not deter you from playing games, but when you are paying such a hefty price, you want to see good results.
The Verdict
When it comes to the Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144 gaming monitor, it has absolutely killed it where the stand is concerned, along with brightness. It is fast and sharp, but lacks in local dimming and contrast.
