LG C3 OLED Review

One of the most popular OLED TV ranges that are currently available in the market is the LG C-series. It is hard to beat these OLEDs, given that they have a high-quality and slim build, an easy-to-use interface and offer stunning picture quality. This year’s model is the C3 and it is a versatile and exceptional OLED that you will certainly not regret purchasing.

Design and build

The design of the C3 is similar to the C2, as it is slim at just 1.8in thick and has almost no bezels. You can find it available in six sizes, which are between 42 and 82 inches. A premium finish in deep silver has been given to the panel wrap, with all speakers and ports under the back. You can choose to wall mount the TV or use a stand, depending on your preference. But, it should be noted that the setups are slightly different in the smallest and largest versions.

LG has opted to continue with its magic remote design, which means there is a rollerball in the center for navigation purposes. You will also find hot keys for some apps, such as Prime Video and Netflix. There is also a microphone button on the remote if you want to issue voice commands. The remote itself is quite functional, as the buttons are lettered clearly and it is easy to feel the markings.

Specs and features

The LG C3 is also capable of handling a number of devices. You will find four HDMI 2.1 ports on the TV that support refresh rates of up to 120Hz and 4K. You can also connect a soundbar with an eARC port given on the TV. There is also an optical audio output, an Ethernet port, a CI slot and two RF inputs. The TV has Bluetooth 5.0 support and Wi-Fi 5 and there are also three USB ports given.

Since last year, the webOS has been tidied up significantly, which means you will have no trouble navigating the home screen, as there are large cards for different apps and sections. There are also not a lot of ads or other bloatware as compared to other TVs. Menu navigation is smooth and there is a wide range of apps available.

The LG C3 is also an excellent choice for gamers because it boasts a dedicated Game Optimizer mode, which enables you to make adjustments to color. There are also options given for variable refresh rate support, NvidiaG-Sync and AMD Freesync Premium.

Picture and sound quality

The Evo panel used in the C3 is the same as its predecessor and it delivers stunning 4K picture quality. This means it comes with the 100Hz refresh rate and also has a Brightness Boost feature. It also comes with the sixth-generation a9 AI processor and it gives results in the form of vivid and striking colors.

While built-in speakers cannot deliver the same sound quality as a soundbar, the C3’s speakers do a pretty decent job. The audio fills the room and you can also choose from preset modes.
