While the company is known for its gaming gear and laptops, Asus also releases a smartphone each year with premium specifications and under the name of Zenfone. The latest iteration is the Zenfone 10 and it is similar to last year’s model because the Android phone is a compact and small one that boasts top-end specifications, an eye-catching design and useful software.
Design and build
The look of the Zenfone 10 is very similar to its predecessor, as the dimensions remain the same at 146.5 x 68.1 x 9.4mm. While it is certainly smaller than some of the bigger phones in the market, it is not the smallest size. Made from bio-based polycarbonate, the back of the phone is available in different colors, such as red, white, blue, black and green.
The cameras on the rear of the phone are housed in circular islands on the top left and the Zenfone branding under it remains subtle. The phone is easy to grip and does not attract fingerprints like a glossy glass finish. A headphone jack is also included in the phone, which is a big plus. The power button is on the side and has a fingerprint sensor built in.
Screen and speakers
With a 5.92inch OLED display, the Zenfone 10 offers a resolution of 2400×1800 and its aspect ratio is 20.4:9. 144Hz is the maximum refresh rate supported, which is higher than most premium phones that are restricted to 120Hz. The display is a good one and you will not have any complaints with the resolution either. The phone comes with dual stereo speakers, but they are nothing special. They work for podcasts, but loud volumes can make them sound tinny.
Specs and performance
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 from Qualcomm has been used to power the Zenfone 10, which is the best processor available in the market. The phone is available with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, 8GB RAM and 256 GB storage and 16GB RAM with 512GB storage.
Thanks to its top specifications, the phone is capable of handling anything and everything you throw at it. You will have no trouble in using any apps or playing demanding games. As far as connectivity is concerned, the Zenfone 10 supports 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and Wi-Fi 7. Dual SIM support is available, but no microSD card or eSIM support is provided.
Cameras
The cameras on the Zenfone 10 are solid, with the main one being 50Mp and boasting the Sony IMX766 sensor. It is capable of taking fine and sharp images and the colors are quite decent. Some shots may have problem with color saturation, but this issue is also common in Samsung devices. You will not find a telephoto lens, but there is an ultrawide camera of 13Mp. The front camera is 32Mp, which is a bit disappointing because the photos are not as good as the videos.
The Verdict
With an amazing battery life, the Zenfone 10 from Asus proves to be an impressive device that offers top specifications and performance for a premium price.
