You will find a ton of headphones in the market that offer water resistance, but this does not mean you can dip into the pool with them. You will need dedicated swimming audio equipment for it and this is where H20 Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport come in. The headphones offer support for MP3 tracks and offline listening via music streaming services, along with Bluetooth connectivity.
Design and build
A bone conduction design has been used for the H20 Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport, which is commonly used for audio gear designed for sports. This means the headphones’ arms are hooked over your ears and the speakers are right against your cheekbones, so you are able to feel the vibrations right in your ear canal. This leaves your ears free and allows you to be aware of everything around you. Obviously, the sound quality is a bit diminished as opposed to traditional headphones.
Earplugs are given to help you block off outside sound. The build quality comes off as sturdy and solid and they come with great waterproofing. You can use them in salt and fresh water both. As for controls, there are just three buttons on the H20 Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport on the right side. One of the buttons is for pausing/playing, power and switching modes between Bluetooth mode and offline play. The remaining two buttons are for skipping tracks, volume adjustment and additional features like skipping folders and loading music.
There is also an LED light that can shows the mode and battery status. The device comes with 8GB of storage, which gives you lots of room for long-form content and songs.
Comfort and fit
Weighing just 32g, the H20 Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport do not feel heavy. They stay secure in the water, even when you are swimming. There is a rubber band included in the box if you want to secure them to your swimming goggles. They are secure even when you use them outside swimming, such as during a workout.
Performance and sound quality
While the H20 Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport do not give you the same quality you would get with over ear, or in-ear wireless buds, but the sound is mostly clear. The vocals and mids are both clear, but the bass is punchy. When you are swimming, Bluetooth is not likely to work properly and this is more because of physics and not the product.
Battery life
The headphones are designed to last for five hours when it comes to playback and that seems accurate enough. This is good enough for swimming multiple times. Every time you turn them on, you will be told how much battery is left, but only in 25% increments. To get a more accurate reading, you have to connect them to your phone.
They come with a custom pin charging cable and it takes an hour to charge them fully. They will power off automatically if they are left on for five minutes.
The Verdict
Priced at $159, the H20 Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport can be a great addition to your swimming sessions, as they give good audio.
