The latest addition in the B Series range from LG, the B3 OLED offers you an intuitive smart TV platform and a quality OLED panel like other higher-end 2023 devices, but not with the same price tag.
Design and build
The look of the B3 is similar to other OLEDs from LG, as the screen is incredibly slim and the bezel is almost invisible. The rear juts out a bit and contains the various speakers and inputs. It has a depth of 46.9mm and it is available in 55, 65 and 77-inches. The Magic Remote is also included, which has an ergonomic design that makes it easy to hold and it remains just as multi-functional as before. You can navigate your TV with the scrolling wheel, the directional buttons, or the mouse-like cursor, as per your preference.
The remote also comes with shortcut buttons for streaming services like Prime Video, Netflix and Disney+. You can also use voice search thanks to the microphone button and take advantage of smart assistants.
Specs and features
The processor used in the B3 is α7AI Processor 4K Gen6, which is cheaper than what you will see in other higher-end LG OLED sets. There are a total of four HDMI ports, two of which are HDMI 2.1 spec, which means you can watch 4K content and enjoy a refresh rate of 120Hz, along with eARC. There is also an Ethernet, two USB 2.0 inputs, inputs for antenna and satellite, a single optical port and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity support.
The interface of the B3 makes it different from its predecessor. LG has overhauled the whole webOS platform and it boasts a new and sleek layout. There is a single banner that takes up most of the screen and there are ‘cards’ beneath that apply to work, gaming, sports, music and smart home functions. You will find all major streaming services included.
The Settings menu has become considerably obtrusive this time around and it seems quite odd. Apart from that, the B3 also comes off as a gaming TV because it supports some leading gaming features like 4K at 120Hz, a dedicated gaming mode for low-latency and responsive play and VRR (variable refresh rate) for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Picture and sound quality
The self-emissive OLED panel of the B3 is truly great, as it comes with vivid colors and is capable of depicting all kinds of content rather beautifully. The brightness is impressive, but it is the excellent contrast that truly makes it great. You will have no complaints about contrast or color accuracy.
There is a stereo speaker system that offers volume of 20W. According to LG, their AI Sound Pro technology is capable of recreating a 5.12 surround sound. It remains quite effective, as the voice clarity gives you nothing to complain about. It also offers support for Dolby Atmos, which is great.
The Verdict
The LG B3 OLED has the same capabilities as that of its predecessors and it comes with a newer webOS platform that you will definitely find appealing.
