One look at the Zenbook 14 Pro OLED from Asus shows that it is a compact computer. But, just because it has small dimensions does not mean the device is lacking in any way. In fact, as it turns out, it is considerably loaded under the hood.
Design and build
Even though the Zenbook 14 Pro OLED is compact, this does not mean it is light and thin. It weighs about 1.65kg and at its thickest, it is around two centimeters. Since it has an angular shape, carrying it around may be a little less comfortable. Matte aluminum has been used for the chassis with dark surfaces and cooling grids cover the back and sides.
In terms of connectivity, you get an HDMI, USB-A, two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports and a headphone jack. The charging port is also separate, which means you do not have to use the USB-C port for this purpose.
Performance
Powered by the Intel i9-13900H CPU, the Zenbook 14 Pro can go up against some of the solid gaming laptops in the market because it also comes with the GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. You can get 16GB as well as 32GB of RAM. For a laptop this small, it is undoubtedly a lot of power. You can do pretty much everything you want at lightning speed.
Playing games on the laptop is also possible, as it comes with a 120Hz refresh rate, but the small space for fans and cooling can limit you somewhat. Nonetheless, in every other respect, the processor can go on for hours without compromising on performance.
Display and speakers
The 14-inch OLED screen is capable of delivering sharp and colorful results and the 2880 x 1800 resolution provides excellent detail. The color accuracy is also amazing, as is the brightness. The underside of the computer is where you will find good-sounding speakers. The treble and bass is clear and while you may not get a spectacular experience when playing music, they work fine for everything else. The computer also comes with small microphones that are quite decent and the 1080p webcam also gets the job done.
Keyboard and trackpad
Even though it has 14 in its name, the laptop’s surface is actually 14.5 inches. Even though it seems marginal, it means that there is some additional room for the keyboard and this is certainly a plus. Even though there are margins at the edges of the keyboard, you will still be able to enjoy properly-spaced and full-sized keys. The keyboard has been well built, as the keys have used quality mechanics and you will immediately feel the difference.
The top row is where you can find the Power Button. The backlighting is strong enough to help you see the keys in low light. The large mouse pad offers you good control.
The Verdict
Even though the Zenbook 14 Pro is compact in size, the device is fully capable of doing pretty much everything you throw at it. If you are looking for a small and powerful laptop, this one is an excellent choice.
