In recent years, the top-tier Slim Pro and Yoga laptops from Lenovo have managed to come into their own and the same applies to the Slim Pro 9i. With excellent design and top-notch performance, the laptop has upped the ante for competitors and while the price tag is hefty, it is certainly understandable, given what the device is capable of offering.
Design and build
The refined and handsome design that has become common in Lenovo’s high-end laptops is evident in the Slim Pro 9i. It has an inviting and friendly feel, thanks to its rounded edges. The material quality is also top-notch, as it feels quite sturdy. It is about 13 inches wide and 8.5 inches thick. As far as the weight is concerned, it is just 3.7 pounds and this makes it quite light.
There are some quirks of the Slim Pro 9i that you will notice. First off, the camera bump above the display stands out a bit because it contains the IR camera and the 1440p webcam. The display lid is also a bit thicker than normal, which is mostly due to the Mini-LED display.
Display and audio
The Mini-LED touchscreen is undoubtedly one of the best features of the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i. Its performance is outstanding, even better than OLED. The display delivers excellent detail and this brilliance is evident when you use the laptop to watch movies or play HDR games. Both contrast and color performance are excellent as well.
As for the sharpness, the laptop comes with a resolution of 3072 x 1920 and a refresh rate of 165Hz, which means it is downright superior. There are four speakers that have been added and offer high maximum volume.
Connectivity
For a 14-inch laptop, the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i is a bit thick and it takes advantage of this thickness by providing legacy and future-proof connectivity. The laptop comes with the USB-C 3.2 port and the Thunderbolt 4/USB4 port for modern devices. These ports support USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alternate Mode.
You will also find a pair of USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports on the right side for older peripherals. There is also an SD card reader, an HDMI 2.1 port and a 3.5mm audio jack to be found. There is also wireless connectivity available, including Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6E.
Specs and performance
The Intel Core i7-13705H processor has been added to the Slim Pro 9i, which comes with 14 cores in total, with eight for efficiency and six for performance. The new Nvidia RTX 4050 has also been added and this helps the laptop keep up with other rivals in the same category. There is also 6GB of VRAM and this allows the laptop deliver decent performance in almost every task you it for.
The Verdict
There is no doubt that the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i is an impressive and capable laptop that offers an outstanding Mini-LED display. If you are looking for a laptop with a good GPU, this one should be top of your list.
