The Xiaomi 13T series has been introduced as an affordable alternative to the 13 and 13 Pro that the company has introduced. The phone has a lower price tag, but offers a log of high-end specifications.
Design and build
At first glance, the Xiaomi 13T will look very much like the Xiaomi 13 and is available in Black, Meadow Green and Alpine Blue colors. The phone has a glass back that collects fingerprints very easily, which is a downside and once you put a case on it, its design charm vanishes. But, the phone is quite robust, if you can ignore the aesthetics. The Gorilla Glass 5 on the screen is strong, as are the aluminum bezels and even the glass back is not flimsy at all.
The right side of the phone is where you will find the volume and power buttons and you can reach them easily. The SIM card tray and the USB-C port can be found on the bottom bezel, along with the speaker holes.
Screen and speakers
There is a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel on the Xiaomi 13T, which is downright superb and comes with a 2712 x 1220 resolution. The colors are truly great and the 144Hz refresh rate is also helpful when you are using the phone, whether for gaming, news, or browsing social media. You can adjust the refresh rate manually as well.
An optical fingerprint sensor is also tucked into the screen and there is also the option of using face unlock with the punch-hole selfie camera. There is a speaker on the bottom bezel as well as on the top and this provides a dual stereo setup. While the sound is not outstanding, it is good for conversations.
Specs and performance
The Xiaomi 13T uses the Dimensity 8200-Ultra chipset, which is a bit surprising, and it has been paired with 8 and 12GB RAM. The combination offers you great everyday performance, so it should not be a problem. While gaming is not the phone’s main purpose, it is able to handle it surprisingly well.
As far as storage is concerned, Xiaomi only offers 256GB internal storage and there is no expansion option. But, in the world of cloud storage, this should not be an issue either. As far as connectivity is concerned, you get NFC and 5G support, along with Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7.
Camera
The Xiaomi 13Thas an impressive camera setup, as it gives you a versatile range of options for taking high-quality pictures and videos. You can capture a lot of light with the 50Mp main camera. Even in low light conditions, you can take detailed and sharp images. There is also a 50Mp sensor in the telephoto camera, which ensures good zooming.
As for the 12Mp ultrawide camera, it comes with a wider field of view, so you can capture group photos, expansive landscapes, or wide-angle shots. The 20Mp front-facing camera is great for video calls and capturing selfies. The portrait mode is good and the it can also capture lots of details.
The Verdict
Even though it is similar to the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 13, the Xiaomi 13Tis still able to excel in most departments, which makes it a good investment.
