Panasonic has given a serious upgrade to its flagship TV, as it has adopted a high brightness MLA OLED display, along with new Luminance Boosting technologies. This has resulted in one of the brightest performers that the company has ever produced.
Design and Features
The MZ2000 is easy to accommodate and also very good-looking, thanks to the swiveling pedestal stand and the thin panel. At 69mm, the TV may not be as thin as some of its competitors, but there is a reason behind it. The device comes equipped with a full complement of speakers that are part of the TV’s 360°Soundscape Pro Dolby Atmos system. The back has two up-firing speakers, there are two side-firing speakers, along with a soundbar-style array in the front.
There are four HDMI inputs, one of which is eARC enabled and two are 4K 120Hz enabled. Furthermore, there are also three USB ports, AV mini-jack input, a Common Interface slot, Ethernet and an optical digital output. You will find both twin satellite and Freeview Play terrestrial tuner connections available. There is one remote for control that has dedicated buttons for Freeview Play, YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video, Rakuten TV and Netflix.
The MZ2000 comes with the brand’s My Home Screen platform, which offers quick customization and is easy to use. Console owners will also find a Game Control Board available, which provides information about input lag, resolution, HDR, VRR and frame rate.
Picture Quality
The MLA OLED panel is very effective in terms of brightness, as it does a good job with most of the HDR content available. But, it is not just HDR content that benefits from the luminance and brightness boosting technologies, as even the average picture gets a boost. The image clarity is also downright spectacular and the pictures do not look overprocessed. Color accuracy is also impressive and there are picture presets that you can use in most cases.
Sound Quality
The sound of the MZ2000 is just as good, as the height and side-firing drivers are able to generate dramatic and wide sound, while the front-facing speakers deliver excellent dialogue clarity. You will not find it lacking in terms of volume either, as it has about 150W available. Beam steering is a novelty that can be appealing.
There is an onscreen graphic that can be used for directing the output to a specific part of the room from the front speaker. This can be useful when you do not want to disturb others around you.
The Availability
It should be noted that there are three sizes available in the Panasonic MZ2000, which are 55-inch, 65-inch and 77-inch models and their pricing is obviously different.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a stunning 4K TV, then you cannot go wrong with the Panasonic MZ2000. The use of the MLA panel has made a big difference that benefits both SDR and HDR content. It is brighter than any other TV that the company has produced to date and when combined with an intuitive and solid smart platform and a good sound system, it is certainly a good buy.
