A budget Android phone, the Motorola Moto G84 5G is for buyers who want to purchase a phone outright and get value for money without having to spend a huge amount of cash.
Design and Build
While the phone is a tall one, the Motorola Moto G84 5G is lightweight and slim. It weighs less than 170g and measures 7.6mm. There are two versions available with a vegan leather back. One is called Viva Magenta and the other is Marshmallow Blue. The other option is PMMA acrylic glass coating, which is nice to touch.
As far as connections are concerned, you get a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Type-C USB 2.0 port. These exist on the base of the phone, along with the main external speaker and a noise cancelling mic hole. The camera module is raised from the back of the phone and there is an ‘M’ logo in the center. There is also a good fingerprint scanner included.
Screen and Speakers
The 6.5-inch display is the best thing about the Motorola Moto G84. It is a bright, big and detailed display that boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, which means videos and games look very smooth. It also offers excellent contrast because it is an OLED-type display. The brightness is also quite good. Overall, the display does not look like one you will see on a budget phone.
The stereo speakers that have been added to the Motorola Moto G84 are good for putting calls on loudspeaker, playing acoustic music and listening to voice notes. But, if you want to play music with bass and sound, you will need Bluetooth speakers.
Specs and Performance
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G eight-core processor has been used for powering the Motorola Moto G84and this allows fast 5G, fast photo taking and fast charging. It comes with 12GB of RAM, which is very surprising for a budget device. Similarly, the storage at 256GB is also quite impressive and support for SD card is also offered, which is another plus.
Generally, the phone is able to speed through most tasks and this is highlighted by the 120Hz display. You will see some lags, but that is to be expected, given that it is a budget device. The RAM ensures that you can use multiple applications simultaneously and there is not much of a slowdown.
Cameras
The main camera of the Motorola Moto G84 is a dual lens set up, which includes a 50Mp sensor and an 8Mp sensor, with f/1.88 and f/2.2 aperture, respectively. You can take detailed macros and ultra-wide shots with the camera and the phone is quite to capture images. The macro mode is where the camera struggles and the colors are also exaggerated.
There is also a selfie camera of 16Mp, which takes decent photos, but not when there is low light. The camera controls are also a hit and a miss in terms of response.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a phone that offers you excellent display, solid performance and a long-lasting battery, you cannot go wrong with the Motorola Moto G84.
