If you are looking for an apex gaming laptop, you cannot go wrong with the Lenovo Legion 9i, as it is supremely cool, extremely fast and comes with a feature that can enhance your entire gaming experience. It also boasts a built-in liquid cooler, which has never been seen in a laptop before.
Design and features
The magnesium frame of the Legion 9i boasts a carbon flake lid that catches and reflects the light in a stunning yet subdued way, which helps it in balancing uniqueness and sleekness. Turning it on transforms the device into an RGB showcase. The front and back is circled with an RGB ring and the backlit keyboard also impresses. You can turn off the RGB lighting to save battery life.
As for the internals, it comes with an Intel Core i9-13980HX processor and an Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU, but there is also an option of RTX 4080 GPU. This makes it a powerhouse, as the processor has 24 cores and 32 threads, including both efficiency and performance cores. There is not much the processor cannot do. The graphics card is capable of handling all your video editing and gaming needs.
There is 16GB of high-speed GRRD6X video memory and 32 to 64GB of DDR5 memory. They run at 5,600MHz, but can be upgraded for a price. You also have the option of choosing from 1TB to 2TB of NVMe SSD storage.
Cooling system
All of this remains cool due to the most unique thermal solution you will come across in a laptop. Traditional air cooling is used for the most part, with multiple heatpipes expelling the heat from the side and keeping it away from the graphics card and processor. There is a 13.4 x 2.2-inch air intake grid that looks like a speaker grille and is above the keyboard.
The liquid cooler turns on once the GPU hits 84 degrees Celsius and it is quite an innovative solution. Rather than requiring an external box, it is integrated into the laptop, but does not increase its weight. Even though it only works for the GPU, it manages to keep the entire system running at peak.
Display and other details
Boasting a resolution of 3,200 x 1,600, the display is downright gorgeous. It offers outstanding color reproduction and brightness with MiniLED technology. The colors are also vibrant and it offers full support for HDR and Dolby Vision. The refresh rate goes as high as 165Hz, delivering buttery smooth gameplay.
While the Legion 9i is not the lightest laptop around, given that it weighs 5.6 pounds, but it is not extremely heavy for a 16-inch laptop either. You can carry it around easily, as it measures 14.08 x 10.93 x 0.74 inches. The battery is also powerful enough to last the full day, but it also depends on the usage.

Lenovo has produced an outstanding laptop in the form of the Legion 9i, as it delivers top-notch performance and has a unique cooling system. It is capable of delivering one of the best gaming laptop experiences.
