There is no doubt that Sony makes some of the best quality televisions and the same remains true in the case of X93L. Even though its products are not affordable, the company makes sure they are worth the premium price and they can certainly deliver an exceptional viewing experience.
Design and build
The first thing to bear in mind is that the X93L is heavy and weighs close to 70 pounds. In most cases, the weight is due to the stand, but this time it is different. The feet are relatively small and lightweight and most of weight is of the television itself. The X93L is also thick and this adds to the weight and the bulk. But, the substantial weight and the chunky build is unlikely to bother you once you have set it up.
The setup itself is quite complicated. The television has a really pretty front and there is a very slim bezel around it and no other distractions. There is some cable management on the rear and there are panels that can fit over the sections where you put the cables.
As far as connectivity is concerned, there are four HDMI ports on the X93L, one with side access and the remaining three with bottom access. Two ports are HDMI 2.1 and one of these is reserved for eARC/ARC. Other than that, the TV comes with Ethernet, composite video, digital audio inputs and two USB ports. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support is also available.
The Remote
Sony replaced its classic remote style with a smaller and compact style last year and the X93L follows along the same lines. The remote only comes with essentials, so it is not too crowded. It has six pre-installed shortcuts, which include Prime Video, Disney+, Netflix, Bravia Core and more.
Software and UI
Anyone who has used Android TV, or Google TV will feel right at home, as it is one of the best smart TV interfaces today. It is responsive and snappy and the apps launch immediately, without any delays. You can also customize your viewing experience, as Sony has added a ton of options for that purpose. Other than Standard picture mode, you can find Cinema, Vivid, IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Vision, Photo, Graphics as well as Custom. The X93L also supports HDR, Dolby Vision and HLG formats.
Picture quality
The X93L delivers a solid performance when it comes to television, games and movies. It works for all forms of entertainment, even if it won’t serve as the best PC monitor. The uniformity of the panel may give you some issues, as the performance declines in the corners, but center remains exceptional. However, you are unlikely to notice this when you are playing games, watching movies, or television. It only means that the device will not function that well if you want to use it as a monitor.
The X93L enables you to tweak a lot of settings for improving your viewing experience and it is also capable of resisting glare. The content looks true to life for the most part and the colors also look great.
The Verdict
Even though the X93L is expensive, it offers excellent support for gaming, outstanding processing, a solid user experience and a lot of room for personalization.
