There was a time when first party companies like Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony offered the highest quality in terms of game controllers. But, recent years have seen third-parties also see a resurgence. One company that has been leading the charge in this space is GameSir, which has focused on providing reasonably priced quality when it comes to its game controllers.
The GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro and Cyclone Pro are multi-platform wireless controllers that are quite promising. This is because they come with macro back buttons, hall effect sticks and triggers and other high-end features. This makes them good options for iOS, Android, Switch and PC gamers.
Design and aesthetics
GameSir’s T4 Cyclone and Cyclone Pro have taken their inspiration from the Xbox Core wireless controllers. While most of the aesthetics are similar, the Cyclones have changed the D-pad to the more traditional design that was seen on the Xbox One controller. It has also added two programmable macro back buttons and also include top slots for securing an optional phone stand holder.
The Cyclone Pro weighs just 7.7 ounces, while the Cyclone is around 7.6 ounces. The lighter weight can definitely be felt during gameplay if you have used other controllers. In addition, the analog triggers and textured grips also enhance the feel of every controller. The button layout and color is also different and there are also some internal differences in the two models.
The Cyclone comes with membrane face buttons, while micro switch buttons are used in the Cyclone Pro. The latter make a clicking sound and have less travel. The Cyclone Pro also comes with trigger vibration, as each of the grips have rumble motors. There is also a low-latency wireless USB-A dongle included, which you need to purchase separately for the Cyclone.
Features and performance
You can use wireless dongle, Bluetooth, or USB-C to connect each controller and it works with Android 8.0 or higher, iOS 13 or higher, Windows 7 or higher and Nintendo Switch. You can check the connection status with the Home button light. There are different modes supported, which makes the controller quite versatile because it can be used with numerous devices.
The analog triggers and anti-drift analog stick use hall effect technology. This is actually a magnetic system that does not touch the other parts within the controller physically. The so-called analog drift is eliminated through this technology.
The programmable macro buttons are the best feature of the controllers, as they are perfectly positioned so chances of mishits are low. Each function can be assigned to one button, or multiple ones, along with the D-pad and each of the analog sticks. You can also fine-tune actions that are dependent on time.
Software
The GameSir App is available on Google Play and App Store and gives you additional options for programming. You can map buttons, update the firmware, fine-tune the analog stick, tweak D-pad diagonal performance, configure vibration level, trigger travel distance and dead zones and more.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a third-party controller that does not cost you too much and still delivers quality, GameSir T4 Cyclones are good options to consider.
