Motorola has always been a good brand for those looking to buy an inexpensive yet quality smartphone. Now, it has come up with a new model that offers some decent specifications, despite costing less than most of its competitors.
Design and build
The first thing you will notice about the Motorola Moto G34 5G is that it is very light and comfortable. Instead of small, the phone is actually compact with dimensions of 162.7 x 74.66 x 8.19mm and the power button is on the right. It contains the fingerprint sensor needed for unlocking the phone. A plastic rear panel and a metal chassis helps in keeping the phone light and gives it a good grip.
While the box does not come with a case for the phone, it does have a charger and cable, which has actually become a novelty nowadays. It weighs only 179g, which means it is lightweight, but Moto has not skimped on features. There is an LCD display measuring 6.5-inches, a USB-C charging port, twin rear cameras and a nano-SIM tray that comes with space for a microSD card.
Volume up and down buttons are above the power button on the right and a single dedicated speaker can be found on both the top and bottom edges of the Motorola Moto G34, along with a microphone and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Screen and speakers
As mentioned above, the Motorola Moto G34 comes with a 6.5-inch LCD IPS display and it boasts a refresh rate of 120Hz that keeps things smooth. In fact, the refresh rate can vary between 60Hz and 120Hz. As far as resolution is concerned, it is 720p, which seems underwhelming, but is understandable, given the price tag.
Nonetheless, the panel does not feel cheap in any way, as it is sharp, bright and colorful. Dolby Atmos support is offered, which means audio is loud. But, the speaker on the top and bottom give stereo soundscape.
Specs and performance
Motorola has opted for the Snapdragon 695G 5G chipset for powering the Moto G34 and has combined it with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which is expandable. As an everyday device, the phone proves to be quite competent. It has a clear interface and the apps work quite well. You will only notice the limitations when you use demanding applications.
If you are used to faster phones, you will notice some pauses and stuttering. You have the option of getting 4GB of virtual RAM to boost performance. The phone can handle basic games, but does heat up a bit. For the most part, the phone proves to be solid and reliable and the inclusion of 5G support is most noticeable, considering its pricing.
The Verdict
Surprising, the cameras on the Motorola Moto G34 5G can take decent pictures and it also boasts a good battery life. This makes the phone quite a package because it offers you generous storage, a nice design and solid performance for an affordable price.
