Dyson V15s Detect Submarine – Review

The Dyson V15s Detect Submarine is almost V15 Detect, but with a Submarine head and adaptive dry/wet programming. This means that you now have an excellent cordless stick vacuum cleaner that comes with a wet mop head.

The contents

The box contains the V15s Detect Submarine that has a long wand of 70cm, a click-in battery, a 0.2 gallon/0.76 liter dustbin and an LCD screen that shows performance in real time. You can get a second-by-second run time display, check battery life status, power modes and also receive maintenance alerts. The Submarine Wet Roller head in aqua-green is also included.

Other things include the Hair Screw tool, the Fluffy Optic cleaner head aimed at hard floors, the Digital Motorbar cleaner head aimed at carpets, a drip tray, a crevice tool, a docking station, charger, transparent wand clip and a combination tool with a brush and wide nozzle. To put it simply, it comes with a tool for every type of situation and floor type. There are also two quick start guides available, one for the Submarine head and one for the V15 Detect.

Charging

You will first have to charge the battery before you start using this vacuum cleaner. It is possible to charge it solo, or you can also clip it in the vacuum and then charge it. It takes almost 4.5 hours for the battery to charge and you can use it for an hour after one charge, but in the lowest power mode. Since you can remove the battery, you can get two and swap them to double your cleaning time, but you have to buy a spare one on your own.

Submarine mopping

The Submarine head is to be used for mopping. You need to open the water tank cartridge, which you can do when you depress the red level on top. It has a capacity of about 300ml of water. It is possible to use diluted detergent, but do not add bleach. There are no instructions about whether you need to use warm, cold, or hot water.

Since the Submarine head is self-propelling, it comes as a shock initially. It speeds away from you and it take time to get used to it. It manages to lift off a lot of dirt and it can clean about 1,000 square feet with just one tank. You can empty the drain trench after you are done, which is also quite easy. Cleaning the roller is also a very straightforward task because it slides out of the Submarine head and it can be washed in the sink. It manages to clean your hard floors really well.

Vacuuming

There are three suction modes given for vacuuming, which are eco, medium and boost. You can also go with auto that will adjust the suction mode depending on the dust it detects. The root cyclone technology used is able to remove dust very quickly and effectively. The filter is also washable, so you do not need to worry about dust build-up.
