Honor Magic 6 Pro – Review

The Honor Magic 6 Pro is a reflection of the company’s ambition, as it is its most expensive smartphone in Europe. Initially known for producing cheap phones, Honor is now putting a lot of emphasis on high-end devices.

Design and Build

A look at the design of the Magic 6 Pro makes it quite clear what the company wishes to focus on. The rear camera module is huge and dominates the back, taking up almost half of the space. It appears that it is a camera first and smartphone second. The camera module is surrounded by glass, which blends with the back seamlessly. The phone itself feels quite well-made, as glass and tough aluminum has been used and it does not show any sign of wear and tear.

The display uses Honor’s ‘Giant Rhinoceros Glass’, which is supposed to be better than Gorilla Glass. The phone feels premium due to the 224g of weight and it is not very slim at 9.7mm. Its vibration motor is quite solid and delivers realistic haptic feedback when you are navigating apps, typing, or gaming.

Screen and Speakers

You will find one of the biggest displays on the Magic 6 Pro and also one of the best. The 6.8-inch display panel has curved edges rather than flat ones seen on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Since it is an OLED screen, you can enjoy vibrant colors that make it perfect for watching videos and gaming. The 120Hz refresh rate also helps, as the phone feels responsive and silky-smooth. Since it is an LTPO screen, it can adjust the refresh rate down to 1Hz to save battery life.

As for the resolution, it is around 2800 x 1280, which means Full HD+. It is clear and detailed and its brightness is also quite impressive. There is also an optical fingerprint scanner within the screen and face unlock is also supported, thanks to the front-facing camera and a dedicated 3D sensor. The top of the display has a large cutout that does get annoying because it disrupts the viewing experience. There are stereo speakers added in the Magic 6 Pro and they offer crisp and clear sound.

Specs and Performance

The Honor Magic 6 Pro makes no compromises in terms of performance. It boasts the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which is top-of-the-line and it is combined with 16GB of RAM. This allows the phone to deliver some of the best performance you will come across. Everyday tasks are an absolute breeze, whether it is messaging, web browsing, watching videos, or taking photos.

Due to the excellent performance, the phone is also a powerful gaming machine. It can play even the most demanding games and remains smooth and responsive, without any noticeable dropped frames. The back of the phone never gets uncomfortable during gaming, just slightly warm. It comes with 512GB of storage, with no option to expand it and there is 5G, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi and NFC support also available.
