Sage/Breville Smart Oven air fryer oven is an excellent choice, if you are looking for more cooking capacity. It offers the combination of crispy and quick results of an air fryer with the space of a mini-oven. The Smart Oven Air Fryer is a countertop oven, which is the size of a microwave and comes with ten individual cooking functions. You can get find it under the brand name of Sage in the United Kingdom and Breville in the United States.
Design and Build
The box includes the smart oven, four recipe cards, a quick guide and internal accessories that have good and solid quality builds. These include a roasting pan, a crumb tray, a 12in pizza pan, an air-fry basket, a grilling rack and a wire shelf. The oven is bright, lovely, brushed stainless-steel silver, but it is also available in other colorways.
It is of the same size as that of an average microwave, as it measures 5in x 20in x 11in. This means that it can easily fit under wall cupboards. There is a long, silver handle given on top of the glass door with a silver frame, which looks elegant and pulls downward. The control panel is on the right. It has two large silver dials, one for temperature/slices and the other for time/darkness. There is another dial that scrolls up and down the functions shown on the LCD panel. The dials are well-engineered and their revolution is quite smooth.
The buttons include one for changing the display from Fahrenheit to Celsius, one for speeding up or turning off the internal fan, one for turning on the internal light and another for frozen food. A large start/cancel button is also given. The LCD screen is above it all and is a bright orange color when lit. The left of the screen shows the functions, while the right shows the time and temperature.
There are three shelf heights inside the oven, with the highest for crumpets, grilling and air-frying, the middle for pizza and toast and the last for roasting, baking, warming, reheating and slow cooking. Put them together and the smart oven air fryer proves to be spacious and versatile.
Performance and features
The set-up is very simple, as you only need to unpack, plug in the oven and then choose the required function. The oven will be ready to use after the cooking cycle that takes about 20 minutes. Choose the most appropriate accessory for the food when you are cooking. You will find ten functions provided, which include toast, grill, bake, roast, reheat, pizza, crumpet, air-fry, warm and slow-cook. There is a preset with every function that you can adjust after selection.
Every function has excellent versatility. The different functions enable you to decide whether you want to use convection, cook from frozen, or the oven preheats. One thing to remember is that its sides do get hot when you are cooking, so you need to be a bit careful.
