The Samsung Galaxy A14 introduced last year was at the top of the list of best budget phones in the market. The Galaxy A15 is its successor and it has managed to succeed on almost every front like its predecessor, offering considerable value for money.
Design and build
Even though it does have the ‘budget’ tag, the Galaxy A15 5G appears to be a more expensive phone than it actually is. Other than the all-important Samsung logo, the phone is available in a number of beautiful colors and they reflect and shimmer differently when you turn the phone in your hands. Moreover, the design of the A15 5G is the same flat-edged one as you see in the S24 lineup, making it easier to grip due to its squared size.
The back of the phone features a neat triple-lens camera module, arranged vertically in the top-left corner, while the bottom displays the Samsung logo. At 200g, the phone is quite lightweight, which makes it comfortable to carry and use. Since it has a 6.5-inch screen, it is quite large, but not too large. It measures 8.4mm, which makes it about 1mm thicker than the S24.
Screen and speakers
In the screen department, the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G is an upgrade because it has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel, as compared to the less LCD display on its predecessor. This makes the device great for watching TV, movies and videos and the high-definition 1080p resolution also adds to the experience. The 90Hz refresh rate also delivers a smooth experience.
The bezel of the display is on the thick side, especially at the bottom. There is also a teardrop selfie notch, but the A15’s screen looks quite good, especially considering its price. The speakers are not stereo, but they sound quite clear and nice.
Specs and performance
The Galaxy A15 is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 6100+ chipset, which is built for handling 5G. It also comes with 4GB of RAM, which is on the low side, even for a budget device. This means that you will experience some lag and slowdown. It also means that the phone is not designed for any kind of high-end gaming. As far as internal storage is concerned, the phone comes with 128GB and there is a microSDXC slot that you can use for expanding on it.
Cameras
Even though the A15 is definitely not one of the best camera phones, it still delivers good prowess for its price. The main 50Mp wide lens is its highlight because it does a good job in the right light and hands. There is no optical image stabilization (OIS), but it does come with autofocus. Other cameras on the phone include a 13Mp selfie camera in the front. As for the rear, the phone also comes with 5Mp ultrawide camera and a 2Mp macro lens.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a budget and all-round phone, then you cannot go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G.
