In the company’s latest line of S phones, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ is the middle entry, as it sits between the more affordable and compact S24 and the more expensive and premium S24 Ultra. The device is a healthy compromise between these two phones that many will find irresistible.
Design and Build
Samsung has continued with the more modernistic and cleaner design of the S23 series with the S24+. But, there are some subtle changes that help in extending the design ethos. The rear camera module remains the same, with three lenses mounted vertically and without a protruding bump. But, the sides of the device have a fully flat-edged appearance, which makes the model more streamlined and contemporary.
Thanks to its metallic range of colors, the Galaxy S24+ is undoubtedly appealing to the eye and the discreet punch-hole selfie camera in the display’s top-center also adds to the overall effect. As for weight and dimensions, it is heavier and bigger than the S24, but lighter and smaller than the S24 Ultra. Each model has a difference of about 30g, which makes it a healthy compromise.
It is also a remarkably rugged and durable device, as the front and back have the Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The haptic feedback of the phone is also appealing because the intensity can be changed.
Screen and Speakers
The screen of the Galaxy S24+ is an evolution of its predecessor, not a revolution. It boasts a Dynamic AMOLED 2x display that uses LTPO technology, which means you get a more efficient and dynamic refresh rate. The display is also fractionally bigger at 6.7-inch instead of the 6.6-inch of its predecessor. The resolution has also been improved to 3120 x 1440 and this provides an overall vivid screen.
Thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate, the S24+ is able to deliver a visual experience that is second to none. The fingerprint sensor has been revamped, so it is now more accurate and faster. The narrower bezels also complement the screen and the overall thinness also improves the premium aesthetic of the phone. The stereo speakers deliver high-fidelity 32-bit audio and this ensures enough quality for TV and film.
Specs and Performance
In terms of the power, the Galaxy S24+ is no slouch. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor has been combined with 12GB of RAM, which makes the phone responsive in almost every situation. You can open apps without delays and multitasking is also seamless. Plus, it is also capable of handling all games easily. It renders graphics smoothly and there are now slowdowns or lags to worry about, all the while resolution and detail remains high.
The 256GB of internal storage is enough to install several games, or you can also go with the 512GB option. But, there is no microSD card slot, which seems like an oversight.
Cameras
Samsung’s phones are known for their versatile cameras and this also applies to the S24+. There is a 50Mp main rear lens with optical image stabilization (OIS) and dual pixel auto-focus. You will also find a 12Mp ultrawide lens and a 10Mp telephoto lens that can be used for 3x optical zoom. Every single lens proves to be useful and the two extra cameras are more accommodating than ones found on other Android devices. You can take rich and detailed photos and the night mode is also quite impressive. There is also a 12Mp selfie camera that functions as a reliable point-and-shoot portrait taker.
The Verdict
If you are looking for one of the best Android devices and something close to the S24 Ultra, but without the high price tag, the Galaxy S24+ is a solid option.
