The V series from Vivo V30 Pro comes at an affordable price tag and they have developed a reputation in the last few years for delivering some of the best selfies. It appears the Vivo will continue the same with the launch of the V30 Pro, but this time it has also opted to upgrade the rear camera. Along with a 50Mp selfie camera, the rear also has a triple 50Mp camera array and it also comes with Zeiss-approved optics, exclusive photo styles and image turning.
Design and build
The V-series tends to have an eye-catching look and the same applies to the V30 Pro. The rear panel comes with the AG glass coating that Vivo usually uses and it feels quite luxurious. It is available in Bloom White, Waving Aqua, Noble Black and Lush Green. The phone is quite slim and it feels slimmer because of the pronounced curves on the rear panel and the side of the display. The camera bump is barely felt and this is quite refreshing. The haptic motors are a bit disappointing because they feel imprecise, even though they are very powerful. The phone is also very lightweight and you will not have to worry about carrying a chunky handset with you.
Screen and speakers
There is a bright and large display on the Vivo V30 Pro, which measures around 6.78-inches and is quite bright. The adaptive fresh rate can switch dynamically between 60Hz and 120Hz, which is good to have, even if it is not the same as an LTPO panel that can adjust the refresh rate to 1Hz. Nonetheless, playing games and navigating the OS will feel fluid and smooth.
HDR10 playback is supported on the phone and the panel plays HDR content rather beautifully. You also get a good level of customization. The device comes with just one speaker, which is positioned next to the USB-C port on the bottom. The speaker is quite loud and capable of delivering detailed sound, but wireless earbuds can give you the best experience.
Specs and performance
The Vivo V30 Pro comes with the same MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset that was used in its predecessor, but it has been paired with 12GB of RAM and storage of 512GB is offered. This makes the phone quite capable of multitasking and you can capture videos and photos as much as you want. Since the chip is not a flagship chip, the phone’s performance is nowhere close to the top.
Nonetheless, it still has enough power for handling most people’s needs. Apps will open quickly and navigating the OS is also smooth and lag-free. Even in intensive tasks like gaming, the phone manages to hold its own. Even when you play graphically demanding games, the phone is always comfortable to hold and does not get too hot. This is quite impressive, given the slim chassis of the Vivo V30 Pro.
In fact, there is also a gaming overlay built-in, which enables you to prioritize game performance by blocking notifications and more.
The Verdict
If you are in search of a phone that lets you take beautiful photographs without breaking the bank, you cannot go wrong with the Vivo V30 Pro.
