In 2024, it seems that LG (LG C4 OLED) wants to separate its flagship G Series and C series. This means that it is now bringing its advanced AI-powered processor to its more expensive line. The C4 highlights this change.
You can find the C4 available in several screen sizes, which makes it easy for users to find one that suits their preference. It is available in 42, 48, 55, 65, 77 and 83-inch models.
Design
The ultra slim LG C4 is a testament to premium quality, from is balletic central metal stand to its metallic, dark wrap. Even the rear of the panel seems fancy because of the textured and striking finish. The electronic and input hub on the rear has also been rounded off to give it a more modern finish. It comes with a slimmer version of the LG Magic Remote control, which boasts cursor functionality and a central thumb wheel.
You will also find dedicated buttons for Netflix, Amazon Alexa, Disney+, Prime Video, LG Channels and Rakuten TV. As far as connectivity is concerned, the C4 comes with four HDMI inputs. Each support 4K/120Hz playback and HDMI 2 is eARC/ARC compatible. You will also find a LAN connector for complementing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, three USB inputs and an optical digital audio output.
Features
Gamers are bound to love the C4 because, as mentioned above, all four HDMI inputs enable 4K/120Hz gameplay and when connected to a suitable graphics card and PC, it can stretch to 144Hz. It is also compatible with AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync for stutter free gaming. The Game Dashboard pairing and Game Optimizer are also extremely useful for monitoring game settings, or when you want to switch between gaming genre presets. It also has good latency.
This year, LG has made some welcome tweaks to its webOS smart TV platform, as it has launched profiles. You can create 10 individual accounts that can save your viewing history and make personal recommendations. Quick Cards help improve navigation because they combine related functionality and services. Apple AirPlay has also been added. The C4 is powered by LG’s Alpha 9 AI processor Gen7 chip, which may not be the most powerful, but it is no slouch.
Picture and Sound Quality
The LG C4 is perhaps the most outstanding OLED that the company has made in the C Series. The images are downright exceptional, as the colors are rich and natural, without being excessive. The details are crisp and clear and motion handling is also superb. The Brightness Boosting algorithm also does a great job. There are various picture modes that have been added, which include Standard, Vivid, APS, Sports, Cinema, Game, two ISF Expert modes and Filmmaker mode.
The audio of the C4 is a bit less clear. The down-firing drivers deliver good performance, but they are not close to the picture quality. It is best to use the LG soundbar with it to get the best audio performance.
The Verdict
The LG C4 proves to be a well-conceived and high-end OLED TV and can be a suitable choice for both hardcore gamers and cinema fans.
