In recent years, there has been a rise in popularity of smaller form factor keyboards and Logitech has also decided to join the race with the Logitech G Pro X 60, which is a 60% gaming keyboard.
Design
The first thing to know about the G Pro X 60 is that other than the standard black and white, it is also available in a bright pink color. It is nice to see the Swiss brand offer something fun. The keyboard’s chassis is mostly plastic, but it has a top metal plate. It is quite sturdy, with no flex and weighing 610g, it is quite a hefty device. The standout inclusion is the 60% layout, as it does not offer more than alphanumeric keys.
There is no number pad, arrow keys, nav cluster, or even a function row. This is to provide more real estate for sweeping and big mouse movements, something that pro gamers demand. The doubleshot PBT keycaps feel great and have a textured finish, so you can use them comfortably for an extended period of time.
The G Pro X 60 does come with some thoughtful touches, such as a toggle on the right side for the Game Mode and a volume roller on the left. There is also a hard carry case included by Logitech and it allows users to take their keyboard along when they travel. The back has a simple and clean interface and you will find a USB-C port for wired use and charging, an on/off switch and dedicated pairing buttons for Blutetooth. There is also single-stage feet on the underside for raising the keyboard for a more comfortable angle.
Performance
Logitech has also made another first with the G Pro X 60, but internally. It is the first time that the brand has offered optical switches. It can be found in both tactile and linear flavors. These switches are quite responsive and they feel snappy, whether for gaming or productivity. Wireless connectivity also proves to be convenient and it works without a hitch.
The keyboard also comes with improved battery life. According to Logitech, it can last for about 65 hours, which is quite impressive.
Software and Lighting
The Logitech G Pro X 60 comes with a static blue backlight to provide less distraction to gamers. The lighting is reasonably bright and offers good coverage. Logitech has also overhauled G Hub, which is the company’s companion software. You can access the Dynamic Lighting settings via the lighting tab. You can also use Lightsync lighting that comes with per-key customization and presets. Logitech has also made changes to Key Control that allows you to select from three layers of remapping. There is also a Game Mode tab where you can enable and disable keys.
The Verdict
The Logitech G Pro X 60 proves to be a great small-form-factor keyboard. It boasts responsive and snappy optical switches and is well-built. The software is also highly versatile, but it does have a high price tag.
